This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is developing a site using WPML with the Avada theme and is facing issues while trying to translate menu items. Specifically, the Dutch menu appears on English and French pages, and the menu disappears unless using the customizer. Additionally, when using Avada's 'edit live' feature, the default NL works fine, but French and English show a forever loading icon.
Solution:
We recommended following the steps in our guide to translate the menus, which can be found here: Translating Menus Documentation. It's important to double-check if the issue disappears after following these steps. If problems persist, such as imported data causing issues due to its structure, it might be necessary to consider that the data is not production-ready and could be corrupted. We also suggested creating a full site backup before making further changes.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at WPML Known Issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Background of the issue:
I am developing a site and using WPML with the Avada theme. I am trying to translate menu items and have set WordPress default to NL (Dutch) with English and French as additional languages. I am experiencing issues with the Avada theme's 'edit live' feature and have provided my WPML configuration settings.

your upload button does not work for small videos

Symptoms:
When I try to translate menu items, I can choose different languages in four different locations, and all seem to have different results. The Dutch menu appears on the English and French pages, but the menu disappears unless I use the customizer. Using Avada's 'edit live' feature, the default NL works fine, but French and English show a forever loading icon.

Questions:
Why does the menu disappear on the English and French pages?
Why do French and English pages show a forever loading icon when using Avada's 'edit live' feature?

Did all that. BTW, using twenty five theme you don't get menu's anymore like in your 'documentation' - how do you translate there?

Using a traditional theme and following your 'documentation', you are able to switch languages in 4 different places, this is very confusing. See screenshot

When using Avada's 'edit live' feature I get into an endless wait icon when switching languages.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.

I'm more than happy to help you translate the menus. Could you share the access credentials to the site in your next message, which I have set private, so I can record a video for you while translating the menus?

I've removed everything from the database and restarted from a clean slate and the erratic behaviour went away, like my headache, now being able to translate.

Good day.

It's great to hear that the issue is gone.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

I'm using an Avada base Theme (subtheme catering - very popular) and if you test and import ready made data - you run into issues when using the translation module - like images dissapearing from mega menu - menu items not being seen in edit live but translated - I'm checking with Avada currently - very confusing.

Hi,

Usually, the imported ready data can cause issues due to its structure. This information is old, and the entries in the database tend to be corrupted due to missing structures or outdated formats. It is good for showing dummy data in a newly created site, but it is not production-ready and regularly problematic when translating.

The site works fine when I don't load your translation module, parts aren't disappearing then, maybe you could make it work instead of not being bothered, Avada support says to contact you because your module is not handling data properly.

Hello,
As I mentioned earlier, we are more than happy to help you.

1.- Please describe step-by-step how to reproduce the issue on the site. You can share screenshots or a link to a video where the problem can be seen.

2.- Share the access credentials to the site in your next message, which I have set private.

Confirm you have created a full site backup that you can restore if necessary.

Looking forward to your message.
