Background of the issue:
I am trying to understand why an icon continuously rotates on the admin bar where the language icon appears. The issue can be seen at the following link: hidden link

Symptoms:
One icon appears continuously rotating on the admin bar where the language icon appears.

Questions:
What is causing the icon to continuously rotate on the admin bar?

Thank you for contacting the support. Meanwhile this ticket is attended by one of my colleagues, please note those are the background tasks which are updating affected content in the posts or pages. This may happen due to changes in the content and the related custom fields.

Please, make sure of having a full backup of your site before proceeding. Then, access to your database and truncate the icl_background_task table.

Please let us know if this helps fixing the said issue.

Hi,

I have deleted the table "icl_background_task" as per your suggestions. Yes, that icon is not appearing.

I have some questions, please answer them:

1. Is this table's data required for the smooth functioning of WPML?
2. Since we deleted the table, will it hamper our site? We have already taken a complete database backup.
3. Is it possible for the table to reappear in the future? If so, should we take a complete backup and truncate the table again? How can we fix this issue so that the icon does not appear ever again?

Hello,

This icon is mandatory in your version of WPML.

You must be using the mode "Translate Everything Automatically" and this icon should help users to understand what is going on behind the scenes.

I can not recommend taking any direct action on the database without consulting us first.

Usually, disabling "Translate Everything Automatically" and enabling it again should recreate the table.
