Tell us what you are trying to do?

Ik want to send users who want to change their password an email in the language that is selected for the site when they click the lost password link.

Is there any documentation that you are following?

Cannot find the documentation, that's why I drop this ticket

Is there a similar example that we can see?

Not necessary, this is the default reset password function

What is the link to your site?

hidden link

Hello there,

Welcome to WPML support forum.

Have you tried the following:
- Go under "WPML -> Theme and plugins localization".
- Scroll down to "Strings in the theme" and click on "Scan the theme for strings".
- Once you followed the above steps go under "WPML -> String Translation". All strings available for translation should display in the table you see there.

Do you see them? If yes, all you need to do is click on "translations" next to each string you want to translate and enter + save your translations. If not, you can also try this possible solution: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/translate-password-reset-email/#post-13086789

Documentation related:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/

Best regards,
Mateus.

Hi Mateus,
Thank you for your reply. I can see the strings of the reset password mail (domain "default", I think that is WordPress core, not theme). The original langage is English. There are translations in 3 other languages in place. Still when I go to the site, select English language version and follow the reset password procedure, I receive a user e-mail in Dutch.

How can I make it so that the user receives the Reset Password e-mail in the language he had selected on the site when he initiated the reset password procedure?

Best regards, Erik

Hi Erik,

Thanks for the feedback.

If the strings are in Dutch text, but they're considered as English, perhaps you have to change the string languages to Dutch, and then translate it to English. Could you please give it a try?

You can even delete the strings: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/#deleting-strings, register them again and re-translate.

If you're still stuck, I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:

**IMPORTANT**

- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link

Please, let me know if you need any additional details. Have a nice day.
