This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client reported that translations for a page that was previously 100% translated in French and English have disappeared from the backend, although they still appear correctly on the frontend. This issue occurred after making minor adjustments to the page.

Solution:
We suggested that the problem might be related to the page builder used for the translations. We asked the client to confirm if the issue is occurring with text from Avada Builder or another page builder. Additionally, we recommended switching to the Advanced Translation Editor, which could help resolve the issue. We provided documentation on how to switch from the Classic Translation Editor to the Advanced Translation Editor:

Hello support team

I have a similar problem, which I previously reported in another ticket. At this customer last month I had a page fully translated into French and English (original language is Dutch) and the indicator at the bottom of the page was at 100% translated.

Now the customer asked me to make some minor adjustments on that page and when I wanted to update the FR and UK version, I noticed that all translations are disappeared again. All texts are in the original language NL translated. On the frontend everything is still perfectly translated in FR and UK. But in the backend I don't see the translations for that page anymore. This was also the case last month and then I copied all translations from the frontend to the backend. Which took a while. Now it looks like I am going to have to do this again.
I have performed all the steps described in hidden link .

Is something going wrong or am I doing something wrong because I would like to know the cause of the problem before I have to reset all the translations again for a 2nd time.

Thanks in advance
Best regards,

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

It's possible that the issue you're experiencing is related to the page builder where the strings are coming from. Could you please let us know if this is happening with text from Avada Builder or another page builder?

We recommend considering switching to Advanced Translation Editor as it may help with this issue. You can find more information about it here: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-the-translation-editor/switching-from-classic-to-advanced-translation-editor/

For further details on Advanced Translation Editor, please visit https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/.

Hi Andrey,

That's correct, everything is done through the avada builder. All clients with WPML have been using the Avada theme for years.

I set up the Advanced Translation Editor and checked the pages. Almost every page had missing translations, so I still had to invest a lot of time to get this right. I hope there is another solution, considering you asked if it was about Avada?

One more question. Regularly you get a message from WordPress that there is an update of the languages. Is it safe to run those WP updates when we are working with WPML? Does this not affect the translations via WPML

Thanks and best regards

Thank you for your feedback.

Yes, both editors are not synchronized. The solution is to move the translations to the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE). The ATE has a translation memory feature that can be useful.

Regarding the issue with Avada builder and the missing test in the classic editor, the cause is not known yet. We will need to replicate the issue and report it to our development team for further investigation.

I have created a staging site for you to test the issue. You can install the necessary plugins and perform the testing there. I have sent the link to the staging site in a private reply.

I have also opened a new ticket for your new question. This will help other users with similar issues to find solutions when searching the forum.

I will reply to your query in the following URL: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/split-regularly-get-a-message-from-wordpress-that-there-is-an-update-of-the-languages/

Hey Andrey,

Thanks for creating a sandbox staging site. However, this is very time consuming for me to propose this problem. i have to install the Avada theme, create the pages and then make the necessary translations. When I translate a page, the problem is not immediately apparent. The translation happens correctly, but it "disappears" after x number of days. So it is difficult to reproduce the problem. I will first set up the ATE at the client and make the necessary adjustments there. Then if the problem should return within x number of days, I will come back to this. Is that okay?

Thank you for the update. I have also conducted some quick tests but have not been able to replicate the issue. Yes, sure.

If the issue persists, please feel free to open a new ticket in case the current one is automatically closed due to inactivity. Have a great weekend ahead!
