Background of the issue:
I am trying to set up French versions of my core pages in WPML and want to edit them directly in Elementor. Each core page has a French version, but I need a French version of my Contact page. I want to create a 'copy' (a French shell page linked to the English one) and then edit that new page fully in Elementor.

Symptoms:
When I click the + icon under the French flag for the Contact page, WPML automatically opens the Advanced Translation Editor, and no actual French page is created in my Pages list unless I save something inside ATE.

Questions:
How can I disable the Advanced Translation Editor just for these pages so WPML creates a French page in the Pages list that I can then edit in Elementor?
Why is there no option to simply create a linked French version of the Contact page from the WordPress editor?
Is there a recommended workflow for users who want to design their translated pages entirely in Elementor, without ATE?

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us

To achieve this, you will need to deactivate the Translation Editor for these pages by following the steps described in this guide: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/

Regards,
Carlos

Thanks for your reply. I’ve checked the page editor sidebar (right-hand column) but I don’t see the option to disable the WPML Translation Editor on a per-page basis.

The page in question is this one:
hidden link

Ideally, I want WPML to manage the hreflang setup for this page, but I don’t want it to auto-translate or overwrite the content every time an update is made to the English version. I want to keep this page editable with Elementor only, without the Translation Editor interfering. At the moment, I’m using the WPML Legacy Translator.

Would you be able to take a look on your side and see if you can find where this option should be? Please don’t edit anything as this is a live site.

Hi there,

Your video is editing the content in the secondary language. The option to deactivate the Translation Editor appears in the Language block but when editing the content in the original language.
