This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client was unable to translate certain strings within their website.
Solution: First, we advised the client to search for the specific string they needed to translate:

We also suggested that if the strings were not appearing in the desired language, the client could rename the .po file to force the strings to display in English, making it easier to search for them.
We also instructed the client to scan for strings within the 'BuddyBoss Platform' plugin by navigating to WPML->Themes and Plugin Localizations -> Strings in the plugins, selecting 'BuddyBoss Platform', and clicking on 'Scan selected plugins for strings'. If the provided solution is not relevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should you need further assistance, please open a new support ticket.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
To debug this issue further, I would need to check your site settings once, for this I would need temporary access (wp-admin and ftp) to your site.
So could you please provide me with those details, you will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. hidden link
I can see the issue, even when I rename the po file the translations are not loading.
I will like to install a database plugin to debug this further, also would like to disable/enable theme/plugins on the provided site, let me know if this is okay for you.
Hi,
Thanks, very good. It is a staging site especially for you so please do what you need to do. This problem is curious so it would be great, to know the origin of this.
Thanks, kind regards
You will need to search for strings in English language, if you are not sure, I suggest you to rename the po file, this will show the strings in English which will make you easier to search for it.
For any new issues, I suggest you to open a new ticket.
Hi,
Thanks, yes I see now the searched string in dev4. But how you get them there? I enabled the WPML auto register already and search again for "Forums", but I have no entry "forums" in the the search results. Which po file I shall rename. I am sorry but I need a little bit further info.
Thanks, kind regards
You can go to WPML->Themes and Plugin Localizations -> Strings in the plugins -> Select "BuddyBoss Platform" and click on "Scan selected plugins for strings"
This will register the strings.
For the mo files, go to /wp-content/languages/plugins and rename the buddyboss-es_ES.mo to something else.
Hi,
Thanks a lot for your help!
Here the difficulties of finding the right string were more complicated because Buddyboss has here a bug I think. In spite of adding the German word for example as "Diskussionen" it shown as "diskussionen" and therefore I searched further for the right string. But your support was here very helpful. I will contact Buddyboss.
Thanks, kind regards
