Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate my website on WPML ATE system. Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link
Symptoms:
There are two issues with WP ATE that make it difficult to do translations:
1) When ATE autosaves, it moves the cursor to the beginning of the textarea, making it annoying when translating longer phrases.
2) I like to do translations little by little, but it's impossible without saving the previous translation first. If I open two translations, the cursor keeps jumping automatically between all open translations, making it impossible to work with (looks like could be related to issue #1?). You can only have one translation open at a time.
Questions:
How can I prevent the cursor from moving to the beginning of the textarea when ATE autosaves?
Is there a way to work on multiple translations simultaneously without the cursor jumping between them?
Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support. Sorry for the delay in responding due to the weekend.
I understand the issue you're facing. Please find answers to each of the issues you've reported below.
1) Cursor Moves to the Beginning of the Text Area - We’re aware of the cursor allocation issue, and our development team is actively working on a fix. I hope this issue will be resolved in the next update of ATE.
2) Translations Little by Little - I followed the steps you provided to replicate the issue, but I was unable to do so. Even when I translate a portion in one segment and move to another without saving, the cursor does not jump to another segment. Could you please share more details about how we can replicate the issue? If you could create a video demonstrating the issue and share it in your next response, it would greatly help us understand the problem and suggest further actions.
Let me know the update. I'll be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter.
How long is this expected to take? I find it extremely bizarre that a simple issue that significantly impacts productivity is unresolved for weeks now.
I completely understand how frustrating this issue can be, and I apologize for the inconvenience. I checked the status of the issue, it seems that the solution is scheduled to be included in the next ATE update. However, I'm sorry to inform you that I don't have details on when the update will be rolled out.
But, I’ll keep you updated on any progress or as soon as more information becomes available. Your patience in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Prosenjit
