Tell us what you are trying to do?
I'm building a website in 11 languages for a client. I'm spending a lot of hours/days adding translations into the website.
I wanted to start a new language. I opened pages and I noticed a some pages where multiplied/duplicated in the main language. When I try to translate the original page (of those we where multiplied/duplicated) then, except of opening the translation, he tries to save a file post.php (0kb) on my laptop.
I can open the original page and the concepts in the default language but when I go to the language I would like to translate, I get the save window again.
Is there any documentation that you are following?
Not really
Is there a similar example that we can see?
I can give you access so you can see it.
Before this ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues I will add the first reply.
This is a very strange behavior as we do not have such a report in the forum.
I suggest that you check if there is a conflict going on with one of your plugins or the theme.
- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Switch to the default theme such as "TwentyTwenty" by going to "WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > themes".
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins" and deactivate all plugins except WPML and its add-ons.
- Check if you can still recreate the issue.
- If not, re-activate your plugins one by one and check the issue each time to find out the plugin that causes the problem.
I put this ticket on hold for now. I have an idea what went wrong.
I guess I have done the following:
- translate with standard editor
-> overwrite content from standard language
-> forget to click on 'translate independently' and published the post.
And probably after a while duplicated this post to create a new one.
-> This created new posts 'in concept' in the standard language and in all languages which were connected with this post.
I'm working further on this website and when I've cleaned up and set up everything correctly I'll check if this problem still occurs.
