The block "Image (Adv)" in the Kadence theme allows to add a caption to an image. These captions are not translated by WPML. They also do not appear in the WPML translation editor of the corresponding page.

Hi,

Captions are usually managed through media translations. Have you tried using WPML’s Media Translation feature for this?

Best regards,
Marcel

Dear Marcel,

The WPML Media Translation only displays graphics, but no captions. At least that is the case for the Kadence Theme.
I've never seen captions in the WPML Media Translation and all captions had been translated correctly before. The problem with the missing translations only came up recently.

Furthermore, the WPML Media Translation is stuck at my WordPress site right now: If I only copy the name of an image from German to English and save the media translation, then the window remains open and a circle rotates endlessly at the lower left side. However, the one and only image translation that is really needed is OK.

Kind regards,
Ulrich

Hi Ulrich,

Please have a look at the following guide:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/media-translation/#how-to-translate-media-meta-information

Once you’ve translated a page that includes a media file (including its caption), the media content will become available for translation in the WPML Translation Editor.

If this still doesn’t work on your end, we may need to add a configuration for that Kadence block using an XML file:
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/language-configuration-files/

Best regards,
Marcel

Hi Marcel,

Following the description of the first link, the translation doesn't even start. It only scrolls down to step at the end of the page without telling what's next.

The second link doesn't tell exactly what to do. It leads to
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/multilingual-tools/
and from there to
hidden link
But I cannot find out how to install the "Multilingual Tools".

Previously the translation of captions at the block "Image (Adv)" in the Kadence theme worked correctly. I only noticed some days ago that these translations were replaced by the source German caption texts.

Kind regards,
Ulrich

Hi Ulrich,

You’ll need to download the plugin from GitHub as source code and install it in your environment. Once installed, it should be able to generate the output for you.

If you need any help with the setup, just let me know, I’m happy to assist.

Best regards,
Marcel

By the way: Kadence support tells the following WPML article to resolve that same issue for the Kadence "Advanced Gallery" block:

https://wpml.org/es/errata/kadence-blocks-advanced-gallery-captions-not-displaying-in-translated-language

But in my case, it's the "Image (Adv)" block.

By the way: Kadence support tells the following WPML article to resolve that same issue for the Kadence "Advanced Gallery" block:

The tool I shared with you will generate the correct configuration for that block automatically.

To download it from GitHub, simply click the green “Code” button and choose “Download ZIP.”

Best regards,
Marcel

Thanks. I installed the plugin "Multilingual Tools". Furthermore, I followed the instructions here: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/multilingual-tools
Nevertheless, the translations for all my captions are still missing.

Hello,

so to proceed forward, I created a minimal installation of WordPress, WPML, and all necessary WPML add-ons, and themes.

You can access the WordPress dashboard using the link below:

- hidden link

Try to replicate the issue with a simple example page.

I will then check and proceed forward.

This will also help us to report the probable issue to the compatibility team and solve the possible problem faster.

Drazen

Dear Drazen,
The test site please needs an installation of WPML as follows:
- WPML Multilingual CMS
- WPML String Translation
- WPML Media Translation
Then the base language must be set to German with English as target language.
Then I can test.
Thanks & kind regards,
Ulrich
