Problem: Change default language of the website

Solution: You can change default language on WPML > Languages > Change Default Language. However It will change the URLS of the pages/posts.

I recommend that you make a backup before changing the default language. So you can reverse the change if something goes wrong.

geoclimaS

Hello,
I have this website geoflange.com with default language in italian and its english translation on geoflange.com/en.
Now, I'd like to switch languages, turning english into the default one so that geoflange.com is in english and geoflange.com/it is in italian.
Is this possible without spoiling urls and permalinks?
Thanks.

Hello @geoclimas, welcome to the WPML support Forum!

You can change default language on WPML > Languages > Change Default Language. However it will change some URLS. The english version will become the main URL (geoflange.com), and the Italian version will become geoflange.com/it. The same will apply to all pages/osts on each language.

I recommend that you make a backup before changing the default language. So you can reverse the change if something goes wrong.

If you need more help just let me know.

All the best,
Diego
