Every single time I do either a WordPress update, or a WPML update there are changes made to the htaccess file that then cause every page on the website to display a 500 error. After much investigating, we have determined that the error is because for some reason WPML is adding the prefix fr to portions of the htaccess file, thus causing all pages except the front page to display error messages.
