This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client reported an issue where Elementor defaults to a language other than the admin's language in the editor. They inquired about the progress of a feature to use Elementor in the native language, which was promised for a future WPML version.
Solution:
We have escalated the issue to our development team, but currently, there is no permanent solution. We recommend using the Advanced Translation Editor to translate content built with Elementor, so editing the translation in the French language is not necessary. As a workaround, continue deleting the mo and po files as previously discussed in this ticket.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems outdated, please check the related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verify the version of the permanent fix, and confirm that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. We highly recommend opening a new support ticket if the problem persists. For further assistance, you can contact us through our support forum.

Hi,

I wanted to follow up on a issue that I reported over three months ago to see if we are any closer to a resolution...

The issue was reported in this ticket: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/elementor-defaults-to-not-the-admin-language-in-the-editor/

At the time we were told that the ability to use the Elementor editor in the native language would be added as a feature to a future version of WPML.

Do you have any timeline for release?

Thank you!

Hi Ilana,

Thank you for contacting WPML support, I'd be happy to help you with this issue.

I'm asking our 2nd tier support about this feature and update you here when I have something to share. Meanwhile, I recommend using Advanced Translation Editor to translate the content built with Elementor builder. So you don't need to edit the translation in the French language.

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hi,

I appreciate you following up for me!

Just to be clear, the issue isn't with the content translation - but Elementor's editor itself! The Elementor interface is in French when we are working on a French page.

If you aren't familiar with the language then it is really hard to build page, add widgets in Elementor, as everything is in French.

I have attached a screenshot which should explain further what I am referring to.

Thanks!

Hi,

This issue has been escalated to our development team and currently, there isn't a solution to fix the issue. You can keep using the workaround to delete the mo and po files as in this ticket https://wpml.org/forums/topic/elementor-defaults-to-not-the-admin-language-in-the-editor/

I will update you here once I have any information.

Thanks for your patience.
