Background of the issue:
I've recently rebuilt my site to FSE and I'm still struggling with the content and translation. The site I need help with is hidden link.
Symptoms:
The biggest pain is the edits in the source text: 1. If I add a few words or change their order, I see the translation as incomplete (and this part is shown in the original language) - I would expect to show the old, not edited translation. 2. The translation is lost - I cannot see which words I used previously, so I have to translate the strings over and over (or the update is just 'polishing up text' so it shouldn't affect the already translated strings). 3. If I edit only white spaces (add a non-breakable space in between numbers or prepositions and its noun), the translation looks complete but not validated and I have to go through every segment once again and approve it, otherwise the text is not shown. 4. FSE template that has no text or I don't touch it, but I change its design - I need to click and mark it as complete, although there is no segment to update (or even no segment to translate at all). 5. The changes are propagated super slowly - for example fixing a broken link could be a matter of minutes.
Questions:
Hi! I've recently rebuilt my site to FSE and I'm still strugling with the content and translation.
The biggest pain is the edits in the source text:
1. If I add a few words or change their order, I see the translation as incomplete (and this part is shown in the original language) - I would expect to show the old, not edited translation.
2. The translation is lost - I cannot see which words's I used previously, so I have to translate the strings over and over (or the update is just "polishing up text" so it shouldn't affect the already translated strings.
3. If I edit only white spaces (add a non-breakable space in between numbers or prepositions and it's noun), the translation look complete but not validated and I have to go trough every segment once again and approve it, otherwise the text is not shown
Then the FSE templates have as well many downsides:
4. FSE template that has no text or I don't touch it, but I change it's design - I need to click and mark it as complete, although there is no segment to update (or even no segment to translate at all)
5. The changes are propagated super slowly - for example, fixing a broken link could be a matter of minutes
Do you have any tips on how to make my edits feasible? What is happening is insane—I'm translating the site over and over, even with small edits.
Thanks a lot
Karolina
Here is the forum ticket. I've made a small change to the homepage content > Save > Update the translation in the Advanced Translation Editor and didn't see any issues. Please check the attached screenshots.
According to your screen record hidden link
I understand the issue happens on the front page with the paragraph "Karolina has built and launched a rider acquisition platform for Delivery Hero (more than 25 brands in 40 countries) ..."
I already suggested you edit the page in the English language > Make a small change to the page title/content > Save and update the translation in the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE). Please don't translate the sentences in String Translation on your site because next time if you edit the translation in ATE, the translation memory won't recognize those translated sentences.
If it still doesn't help, please share a screen record of steps that I suggested.
Thanks.
