If we save the "Post Type Translation" setting from WPML then we are getting duplicate images in the media library.
If we change anything in "Post Types Translation" or just save the settings without changes we are getting duplicate images in the media library.
You can see in the video, for i.e. : This image " Vidbag-Modulo-Skewer-attachment-ver3.jpg " without saving settings from WPML We have only one in media library, but after saving "Post Types Translation" settings from WPML we are getting duplicate images in the Media Library.

Can you take a look and tell me the solution to the duplicate images issue?
Thank you for contacting WPML support, I’m happy to help you with this issue.
I've tried to replicate the issue on my demo site with the same translation preference of post types and search for the image but not see that.
From my point of view, the image is duplicated into other second languages as it is. But somehow when you search for the image, the translation is also displayed in the English language.
I suggest you follow steps below and recheck this issue:
1. Update WPML plugins to the new version WPML 4.6.10, String Translation 3.2.10.
2. Enable a minimal environment:
- Deactivate all non-WPML plugins.
- Switch to a standard theme of WordPress.
❌ IMPORTANT: Please backup your database and website before proceeding ❌
We followed this steps as you suggested, but we are still getting duplicate images in the media library.
1. Update WPML plugins to the new version WPML 4.6.10, String Translation 3.2.10.
2. Enable a minimal environment:
- Deactivate all non-WPML plugins.
- Switch to a standard theme of WordPress.
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.
❌ IMPORTANT: Please backup your database and website before proceeding ❌
You can use this plugin to create the backup: https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/
✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme to change configurations on the site if needed. This is also a reason the backup is critical.
I go to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting > Click on the button "Set language information" and that fixes the issue. Can you please confirm it works on your end?
We did this 6 months ago under WPML > Support > "Set language information"
See the screenshot : hidden link
But still we are getting same issue. this is not a permanent solution.
Currently,
Without duplicate media count total : 16,095 (See the screenshot : hidden link)
With duplicate media count total : 22,048 (See the screenshot : hidden link)
Therefore, we need to remove about 6,000 duplicate entries in the media that are not feasible to us. and this is not a permanent solution because as I said we already did it with "set language information" 6 months ago and now we are getting the same problem.
I understand the issue. However, the root of the issue here is some duplicated images do not have the correct language when you search for a keyword and they show all in English language.
Can you provide me a permanent solution about this issue? because as i said we fixed this issue around 6 month ago with same solution "set language information", but still we are getting second time this issue.
Please share a backup file with me. I will restore your site on my localhost and investigate the issue further. You can use some plugins to create the backup file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/ https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/
and exclude some unnecessary folders like /wp-content/uploads/, /wp-content/caches/ ... to reduce the file size. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.
I'm not able to restore your site on my localhost with the DB and wp-content files. Please help me install the plugin Duplicator Pro on your site hidden link
share the admin account again and I will take the backup file on my end. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.
Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks
