Background of the issue:
I hope this will reach Alejandro. We have had a few conversations about this issue and possible bugs on extensive glossaries.

I am trying to import a (partial) glossary into WPML and ensure that the entries are overwritten, as I have selected this option. I can provide the files and data for testing the issue.

Symptoms:
Glossary entries are not overwritten despite selecting the option to do so.

Questions:
Why are the glossary entries not being overwritten?
Is there a bug in the WPML glossary import feature?

Hi,

I'd appreciate it if you could give me the URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard after you make sure that you have a backup of your website.
It is absolutely important that you give us a guarantee that you have a backup so if something happens you will have a point of restore.

Make sure you set the next reply as private.

We also need the steps to see the error so we can also test.

If it is easier for you using loom.com will show us exactly what you do in the WordPress Dashboard and will give us a better idea about the Glossary overwrite problem that you mentioned.

Thanks

Actually,

Going through this glossary I see that none of the updates I did worked. So yesterday Alejandro reconnected my account to the website. After that I did a major update of the glossary. None of these updates worked, and many languages still have the English translation - My local glossary here is fully translated.

Hi,

Thank you for the login information and the Excel file.

The issue is that the Icelandic language is Hidden and it is not possible to import Glossaries to hidden languages.

Please make sure that you follow the steps below to make the Icelandic language available and not hidden:

https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/hiding-languages-on-the-front-end/

Also as a test try to add a Glossary manually to Icelandinc.

Thanks.

Hi Christopher,

As an admin all languages are all ready visible to me - as suggested in the steps provided.

So not being able to import into the glossary is a bug right? Just so I understand where we are at with WPML?

At this point I have 20+ languages hidden/under review. That doesn't create a clear workflow. So then I need to:

- Create a staging;
- 'Unhide' the languages in a staging.
- Update the glossary
- Hide the languages again?
- Move to production

Is this correct?

Also while trying this solution I (re)encounter the following problem(s):

Staging address is hidden link

Because I used this address before (I think) in the migration progress movinf from staging to prodcution and back, I get:

I get first Looks like this site was previously at #production# at #staging#

When I confirm that this is a copy it wil loop to

Looks like this site was previously at #staging# at #staging#

And I can't get out of this loophole.

So the message is:

"Looks like this site was previously at hidden link and now it’s at hidden link.

Do you still have the same site running at hidden link?"

I hope this makes it understandable.

Hi,

Actually it is possible to show the languages for a specific user and the languages will be available for that user in the Glossary section.

Please login to the website with your user and go to WordPress Dashboard > Users > Profile and enable the "Display Hidden languages" option.

Save the result and you should be able to see the language that you hide in glossary session.

For the second issue I think my colleague fixed that before and after that you need to make sure that you select the COPY option to share the translation memory for both domains.

Thanks.

Then think we are not talking about the same issue. Let me try again:

- I have a CSV file with updated glossary terms
- When import this CSV file into the glossary I select "overwrite existing glossary terms"

After the import of the glossary terms the updated terms from my CVS are not processed/updated in my glossary.

So this has nothing to do with the front-end

-----

For the other issue. I did select copy. But it resulted in the loop so first it does recognize it is coming from production. But then it also recognizes it also had a link to staging.

From that point on it wants to create a copy from the same site as the staging.

New threads created by Christopher Amirian and linked to this one are listed below:

Hello and thank you for the details.

I reported the issue and waiting for the second tier support, but meanwhile, I wonder if I understood the issue correctly. Can you check the video below and confirm that I understood the problem?

Meanwhile I will create another ticket to check with you the COPY message problem.

Thanks.

Hello Christopher,

Thank you for your movie. Yes the issue as you described in your movie is correct.

I will leve the other issue open for now as this might create confusion.

Ok thanks. We have an issue that we reported here:

https://wpml.org/errata/entries-are-missing-from-the-glossary-list/

It is when there is no entry shown.

It is a little bit different than your case, but it might be related.

I created a report and also mentioned the error report above and waiting for the second tier supp[ort to give their opinion and I will get back to you as soon as I have news.

Oké thank you. But now I am stuck with yet another bug. I will report that one separately. But I hope waiting will not increase. I can't work like this.
