Hi Bruno!

Thanks :). 2 and 3 are solved.

But I still get some issue with 1. You can find some screenshot..
For example, for pages, the slug name is corrected but path is removed I got a URL /urban/editorial which get converted in /editorial/?lang=fr.

For products, the slug is totally converted. See the examples in the screenshots. For example mongolian_smile get e new slug sourire_longol (fr). Ignore the German version.

I'm still looking at this issue.

Regards

Good evening Bruno )

Unfortunately, WPML keep translating slugs even on page.. You are welcome to log in by yourself if needed.

Help would be greatly welcome. This is not the way I wish, every page should have one single slut over all translations 🙂

Have a great evening.
Thanks for your support.

Hi,

Well, then this option:

- WPML -> Settings -> Translated documents options -> Page URL -> Translate (this will include the slug in the translation and not create it automatically from the title)

Set it as above and then in the translation editor, make sure to only copy the slug from original.

Currently it is probably set as "Auto-generate from title (default)", meaning form the translated title on a translated pages.

Bruno Kos

Good Morning Bruno,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, it did not work as expected.. I just tried with another page:

hidden link
Once translated: hidden link

Did I do something wrong ?

I tried too with "Copy from original language if translation language uses encoded URLs", but it acts the same, as do the first option ""Auto-generate from title (default)".

I tried to look for a solution all over the settings and forum but I did not find it ..

Thanks for your support!
Regards

Hi,

Do this:

-activate " Translate (this will include the slug in the translation and not create it automatically from the title)"
- open original page and make a slight change there, click update, open the page in translation editor
- you should see something like this then

Is it not working for you?

Hi Bruno,

I've been working since you reply with this option set .. and so far it works 🙂
Maybe WPML got a bit lost with previous translation jobs. So I will continue my quest and come back to you if I need again some help.

I will soon start to add products (and their translations). So there might be some quirks.

PS: I will keep this thread open until the end of the day. If it really work, I will set it as resolved

Have a great day!

Oh no... I tried to create a brand new product and to translate it. Slugs get translated.. This is annoying as I need them to rename every translation manually..

Original: hidden link
Tranlsations:
hidden link
hidden link

Or with Page URL set as "Copy from original language if translation language uses encoded URLs" (which makes sense to me).
Original: hidden link

hidden link

Any idea ?
Maybe WPML could add an option "Copy slug from original"

By the way, it works as expected "sometimes"..

Hi,

This is annoying as I need them to rename every translation manually..

Well, there are at least two options:
- you copy them (that's translating) using a single click.
- they are auto generated based on the title

There are no other options here. Maybe this would help though, but this is only proposal from a client:

Ok. I understand.

I would warmly suggest to implement such feature in WPML.

Have a great day.
