Background of the issue:
I updated one sentence in a post and want to translate it from English to Spanish. I also need to update the internal URLs to the respective Spanish post. I noticed that when I use WPML to translate an already translated post, it overwrites my edits with a new translation.

Symptoms:
WPML translated the text again and overwrites my edits, which I had made for a better and more accurate translation.

Questions:
How should I translate only the updated sentence in a post or update the URL's?
What is the workflow process for translating internal URLs and text changes done to an already translated post?

Hello,

Do I understand correct that you are editing the translated content inside the WordPress Editor or a page builder?

Apart from that are you using the mode "Translate everything automatically?

It would also be very helpful if you could send us the WPML debugging information.
More information here:

Best regards

Hello,

Please take kindly note, that inside the WPML Translation Editor it is expected that a segement will need to get translated again, if the original content was updated.

Also, please be aware that you should not mix translation methods.

On each original content inside the right sidebar of the WordPress-Editor you can select:

- WPML Translation Editor
or
- WordPress Editor

as the translation method for this content. You should always stick to the method used on each content.

If you make edits on translated content using the WordPress Editor and afterwards translate the same content with the WPML Translation Editor, then those manual edits from the WordPress Editor will be overwritten.

In case you need further assistance, please let us know.

Best regards
Andreas
