I am trying to: translate website on multiple languages. Everything was working fine, but now images started to disappear. It's not consistent at all: The same section works on some pages, but suddenly not anymore on others.

I expected to see:
Images working on all languages.
Instead, I got: Images not showing. Sometimes the src is missing completely. Other times a wrong link is showing up.
I already checked Media Translation settings and ran the duplication of images. Didn't help. I also installed all updates and disabled some plugins, didn't help.

Did you already try to edit and save the original content and apply the translation again?
When doing this, make sure to mark the fields for duplicating featured imaged and uploaded media inside the Language section of the right sidebar of the WordPress Editor on the original content.
If this will not solve the issue, I would like to offer to have a closer.
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to the website to investigate the issue further.

Yes, appyling the translation again also didn't help.
I fixed it in a different way now:
WPML > Media Translations and searching for the individual images missing. Then reuploading the English Variant. That helped as only measurement. I feel like something went wrong in the database when matching the translations or something.

If you would have mentioned earlier that you are actually trying to replicate images in a second language with WPML Media Translation I would have suggested the same.
