This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client needed a way to manually disconnect translations that were incorrectly connected, as the current system did not provide an easy method to remove these connections once established.
Solution:
We informed the client that WPML does not have a built-in feature to 'disconnect' translations directly. If a wrong translation is connected, the client must delete the translation, recreate it, and then reconnect it correctly. To delete a wrong translation, the client should go to Pages, filter by the language of the wrong translation, select it, and send it to the trash, then permanently delete it from the trash. Additionally, the client discovered that these translations were in the translation job queue, where they could manually cancel jobs, which effectively removes the connections between pages.

Hello!

I want to manually connect and disconnect translations. There is very complicated now if I choosen a wrong translation first.

How can I get a panel to show and disconnect already connected translations?

Now I only see a gear icon on translations, and when I clicked on it, open a translation panel, that I don't want to use.

I hope you will send me a simple solution.

Regards,
Jozsef

Hello Jozsef,
Thank you for contacting us

To link translations you must follow the steps described in this FAQ: https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-link-already-translated-pages/

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

I've already find this FAQ, but as you see on FAQ picture, there is no "remove translation" option.

So if I connect wrong translation first, I can't correct.

Jozsef

Hi Jozsef,

WPML is not designed to 'disconnect' translations. If you connect the wrong translation, then you will need to delete the translation, re-create it and connect it again.

Hi Jozsef,

Let's say you are trying to delete a wrong translated page. To achieve this you need to go to Pages -> Filter by the language of the wrong translation -> Select it and send it to the trash, then delete it from the trash.

So you said, I need to delete a whole page, just because I connected translations wrong?

No one before me pointed out that this is a major design flaw in your system?

How can I report this as a bug or a "feature request"?

Regards,
Jozsef

Hi Jozsef,

Before you proceed to delete the translated page. Could you double-check if you can edit the page in the secondary language and then link it to the correct page in the original language?

Note: What happens most of the time, is that the users click on the translation icon, and without even translating the content there is already created a translation job in the database that links the original content with the secondary language, not allowing linking to another page in the secondary language with the one in the original language.

I'm not quite sure yet what's the scenario in your case, so I kindly ask you to double-check if you can link the page in the secondary language to the one in the original language without the need to delete the one in the secondary language.

Also, I have set your next answer private so you can share the access credentials to the site in a secure way and share a few examples of content in both languages that you need to link. This will be the best way for me to fully understand what you are struggling with 🙂

Hi Carlos!

I found the solution.

These translations are in the translation job queue.
There I can cancel jobs manually, and this remove connections between pages.

Thanks for your help!

Jozsef
