This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is trying to migrate translations from Weglot to WPML but has not found any documentation on how to do this and is unsure if it is possible.
Solution:
If you're trying to migrate translations from Weglot to WPML, it's important to understand that translations in Weglot are not owned by you; they are essentially rented and accessible as long as you maintain a subscription with Weglot. Weglot has an export function, which you can find at Weglot's export documentation, but this is only available in their "Advanced" plan. Unfortunately, there is no automatic way to migrate translations to WPML since the translations are not stored in your WordPress database but in Weglot's external SaaS system. As a result, you would need to recreate the translations manually in WPML, as we do not have access to Weglot's translation data.

If this solution does not seem relevant to your situation, please feel free to open a new support ticket with us for further assistance. You can do so by visiting the WPML support forum.

Hi,

before your ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues, please allow me to walk you through some initial debugging steps. This will help speed up the support process.

When you use Weglot, you don't own the translation they made. You are renting them and have access to the translation so long you pay for their subscription.

It seems like they recently integrated an export function (hidden link), but it's only an active feature in the "Advanced" plan that costs 2.990€ per year. Currently, it's impossible to automatically migrate the content to WPML, as the information is not saved on your WP databases tables; it is only saved in their external SaaS system.

Therefore, you must recreate everything manually, as we can't access that information.

Best Regards
Marcel

Hi Roger,

That's right. For a migration from Weglot to WPML, considering Weglot's external storage of translations, you may need to recreate the content manually.

As my colleague explained, Weglot's translations are not stored directly in your WordPress database but in their external system. Therefore, copying the content and disabling Weglot before starting with WPML could be a suitable approach.
