Hi there,

Thanks for contacting WPML support.

Please navigate to WPML > Run the WP Menus Sync

Then, navigate to WPML > Settings > Support > Troubleshooting > Run all options except "Reset Languages"

IMPORTANT: Please, note, a backup is required for security reasons, and to avoid any data loss, you can use the https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/plugin for these backup needs.

Hello Kor,
Still need assistance. I've just installed WPML at 999-realestate.com, translated English into Thai, so far so good, all worked well. Except the menu, both menu's were empty and I couldn't add new menu items to it.
I'm afraid your help is needed

In the meantime I made use of a back-up, so no WPML as a plugin anymore.

Thanks for your reply.

I would need to take a closer look at your site. So I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed

IMPORTANT: Please, note, a backup is required for security reasons, and to avoid any data loss, you can use the https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/plugin for these backup needs.

Your following answer will be private, which means only you and I have access to it.

✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme and to change configurations on the site if required. This is also a reason the backup is critical.

While checking your debug information, I noticed that your “WP Memory Limit” PHP limit is below the required 128MB or recommended 256MB as described at: https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/ . Could you please contact your hosting provider and ask them to increase this PHP value for you?

Hi Kor, sorry but I can't manage to fix a test-website, because the back-up I made is a tar.gz file which I cant't extract at another website.
Can I send you the tar.gz plus de database? Is that an option for you to work with?
When you install WPML everthing works OK. I added Thai language, everything automaticly translated, but then the menu disappeared and it was impossible to add new items to it.
So. Can I send you the tar.gz plus database?
Is that an option. I really don't want to have something going on the production website 999-realestate.com

Thanks for your reply.

Have you tried translating the menu using the manual method as explained here? https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-menus/#option-2-translating-menus-manually

As for sharing the staging site, we would prefer a site snapshot.

We usually recommend the free Plugin “Duplicator” for this purpose.

If you already know how Duplicator works ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/),please skip the following steps and just send me the archive file you downloaded.

★ Duplicator Instructions hidden link https://wpml.org/faq/provide-supporters-copy-site/

If the file is too large (more than 400M), please use the Duplicator file filters to remove the cache, the wp-uploads directory, the media, and the archive files.

Send me the link to the archive file (you probably want to use Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar services, as the snapshot file will be quite big).

Your next reply will be private, which means that only you and I will be able to see it and have access to it.

You can paste the link to the file there.

Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site.

Hi Kor, hope you can fix it in a way that we easily can add to our production (live) website.
Thanks.

Thanks for your patience.

I've imported your Website into my local site and I'm not so sure what's wrong. I can still see the homepage with a navigation menu but it seems the homepage is not translated.

Could you share your Website URL here so that I could check the difference and to see the issue you had there?

Hi Kor, first of all thanks again for the support.
Website: hidden link

I've just installed WPML again at the production website (CMS and String). I did a translation into Thai, automatic for all pages.
So far so good, even a Thai menu on the webpage, thereafter I synced them.

The English menu at the webpage now had page titles as menu items.
For instance: 'Find your dream home in Thailand' instead of 'Home' which I changed in the navigation label.
The moment I change it back to 'Home', all menu items are disappeared except 'New developments' which is custom link. I can't add more items to menu.

In 'Dashboard' menus their is no Thai menu to be found.

I hope I made myself clear, English is not my native language 🙂

BTW is there a way to exclude menu's from translation? Maybe that's is an option?

BR Hans

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry for the delay in response due to the weekends. Unfortunately, I'm still unclear about this and could you please record a short screen recording using this free tool hidden link to show me what is happening over there? Then, I will follow your method to replicate it on my local dev site.

If possible, clone the site to another staging site so that we could work on it together. Let me know how it goes.
