The proposed approach we have consulted is therefore completely wrong and unrealistic, as it does not respect the features and bugs of WPML. ATE cannot be used on developer URLs, as these would be stored in the cloud translation memory. There is no way to manage the translation memory in the cloud and make bulk changes to it. So we have to do things differently.
Process testing:
- So far I have only tested deleting old languages and including copies of media except ES. I had to do this twice as well due to a bug in the WPML plugin.
In order to use ATE for all languages, we'll have to do it on the main URL. However, it would be possible to do a complete backup of the site and gradually redo the old translations into ATE. Once we have redone everything, a delete and re-creation of the languages could be done. In fact, the translations would remain in the cloud and would be restored. But the media would be duplicated again and then have different IDs, here it is not clear to me what would happen.
Another possible course of action would be to create a copy of the site and redirect the traffic using htaccess or PHP so that traffic from non-logged-in users is redirected to the copy of the site. This would remain as it is now and we would work on any changes directly on the main site. This redirection would be reversed once the site modifications are complete and the translations are migrated to ATE.
Questions for support. Will the newly translated pages in ATE have the same URL as now? And images? I am asking to deal with traffic and links to our site.
Is there a support thread on how to use CTE without random disconnecting translations, which we have been dealing with for many years? Is this issue possible to detect using SQL query? My understanding is that CTE is not and will not be reliable anymore, but maybe there is some specific filter settings and WP behavior that would solve the problems.

When you translate a page, make sure the translated slug is the same as your previous translation. You can adjust the options and methods as explained here https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-page-slugs/ . If this is the same as your previous translated slug, then the links will work fine. If not, you'll have to make the adjustments manually on your own.
