Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML Support. Could you please follow the below steps and see if this resolves your issue:

1. Please take a backup of your site first for safety reasons.

2. We have recently released WPML 4.6.10, could you please update it to the latest version.

You can update it from Plugins >> Add New plugin page, click the Commercial tab, and then click the “Check for updates” button. Here is the screenshot for more details:
https://wpml.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/wpml-force-plugin-update-1.png

3. Please make sure to update all outdated plugins and theme to the latest version.

4. Please make sure you have followed the step-by-step instructions from the below doc to translate the OwecanWP theme footer: https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/build-multilingual-wordpress-sites-using-oceanwp-theme-and-wpml/#translating-custom-templates

5. If the issue persists, please provide temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP Login info) to your site (preferably staging site), so that I can look into your setup and debug the issue.

Your next answer will be private which means only you and I have access to it.

=== Please backup your database and website ===

✙ I would additionally need your permission to deactivate and reactivate Plugins and the Theme and to change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is really important.

Thank you

Wow, wonderful, thank you. I just worked through your provided info link (https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/build-multilingual-wordpress-sites-using-oceanwp-theme-and-wpml/#translating-custom-templates) - and that solved the issue. updates were not necessary. I had to work with the newly created ID-numbers of the translated footers and insert them in the string translation. Thank You for Your help! Have a nice day
