This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is experiencing a 404 error when clicking the French language button in the footer, despite having translated the content. The client also faced issues with the WPML plugin not showing the latest version for update and changes made in Bricksbuilder not being reflected in the WPML editor. Solution: 1. Ensure that the WPML plugin and all related add-ons are updated to the latest version, which is 4.7.2. This can be done by checking for updates in WP > Plugins > Add New > Commercial Tab. If the updates are not visible, click on the "Check for updates" button. Detailed instructions for updating can be found here: http://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/. 2. After updating, modify the original page slightly and save it. Then, navigate to the WPML translation editor and ensure the translation is complete and saved. 3. Verify that the translated homepage is published and not in draft or trash mode. You can check this by switching to the French version using the language switcher in the top admin bar. 4. If the WPML plugin still does not show the latest version for update, download the latest versions manually from https://wpml.org/account/downloads/ and upload it to your website.
If these steps do not resolve your issue or if the solution seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
I am working on a site under development and trying to ensure that the French language button in the footer leads to the correct page. The content has been translated, and settings are configured to show content without approval after auto-translate.
Symptoms:
The French language button in the footer leads to a 404 page, indicating that the home page is not available in French.

Questions:
Why does the French language button lead to a 404 page despite the content being translated?
How can I ensure that the French home page is correctly displayed?
While one of my teammates handles your ticket, I will provide you with initial debugging steps.
Try updating the page translation. To do so, modify the original page slightly, save it, navigate to the WPML translation editor, and complete the translation.
But first, update your WPML plugin and add-ons to the latest version, 4.7.2, to benefit from the latest bug fixes and improvements. This may not necessarily resolve your problem; however, we need to work on the newest code available to troubleshoot the issue best.
You can check the latest released versions under "My Account -> Downloads" on this site. Instructions to update can be found here: http://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/
If you do not see the updates, you might need to click the Check for updates button in the Plugins → Add New Plugin → Commercial tab.
Please remember to backup your database before you proceed.
Let us know if the issue persists after an update has been done.
Thanks for these ideas Andrey. When I go to the commercial tab in plugins I'm seeing the screenshot below which seems to imply 4.7.2 isn't available? Do I have to update manually? I am on a multisite install although there's currently on one site.
Unexpected behavior - I went into Bricksbuilder and made a small change to the home page but it wasn't picked up by the WPML editor when I went to look (although the change was visible on the front end text). I tried another page on the site and it worked as expected.
Let me know if there's anything else you'd like me to try.
Additional clues (see screenshots)? I've finished the French translation on the home page and saved it with confirmation but still see this warning under Settings > Reading Settings.
Thank you for your response. Could you please click on the "Check for updates" button located in WP > Plugins > Add New > Commercial Tab? This action should display the latest version of the WPML plugin, which is 4.7.2. Regarding the homepage, could you edit the translated homepage and ensure that it is published and not in draft mode?
It seems like there might be a conflict with another plugin that is preventing the update. To resolve this, please download the latest versions of the WPML plugins manually from this link and upload it to your website: https://wpml.org/account/downloads/
Regarding the issue with the translated homepage not appearing, based on your screenshot, it appears you're viewing the English language page. Could you switch to another language using the language switcher at the top admin bar and verify if the translated page is in a published state?
Glad that helped. Please mark this ticket as resolved.
