Hello, We have a multilingual website with more than 10,000 posts in six languages. We are facing an issue in the Google Search Console (GSC). Normally, when we translate a post or page, it shouldn't get redirected, right? but we are getting redirect issues for most of the pages. Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link hidden link hidden link hidden link hidden link hidden link hidden link These are some of the pages where we are getting the redirect issue. I expected to see: Instead, I got: Is this an issue? If it is, how can we solve this? The page redirect issue in the GSC is increasing day by day. Is there any solution to fix this issue? Please check and let us know your feedback. Thank you |

Hello, When we checked the sitemap, the URLs with English slugs are presented in the sitemap, but how are they getting these English slugs? WPML translates the slugs, right? The initial URL from the WPML may be in the English language, and at that time the sitemap plugin fetches that URL, but after publishing the post or translating the post, the WPML automatically translates its slug, and the 301 redirection happens. What are your thoughts regarding this? Did you face such issues before? How can we solve this? We are using two plugins for the sitemap implementation. The first one is used for the main sitemap, and the second one is used for creating the news sitemap only. Do these plugins have any issues with the WPML? How are they initially fetching the English-language version of the URL? Please check and let us know your feedback. Thank you |

Hi there, This is the first time I have seen this issue. I can't see why the wrong URLs are in the sitemap. I suspect that the plugins used to generate the sitemaps are not compatible with WPML, you can double-check it in this list: https://wpml.org/plugin/ I would recommend you use Yoast SEO or RankMath plugins and compare the results. Hi there, As you can read here: https://wpml.org/plugin/google-xml-sitemaps/ -> "Please note that the Google XML Sitemaps plugin works with WPML only if the language URL format is set to A different domain per language" Your site uses different languages per directories configuration. |

So, what will we do now to fix this issue? How they are fetching the URL which is in English language before publishing it? Is this shared by WPML? Somehow we need to solve this issue ASAP because the redirect issue is getting higher day by day and it will affect our SEO. |
