Background of the issue:
I have 2 translated pages open of the same page. Ex. /post.php?post=30369&action=edit&lang=en And /post.php?post=38316&action=edit&lang=us (Both translations of the same page). I have 2 tabs open with each page.
Symptoms:
When I update 1 page and save, then go to the second page and save and then go back to the first page and refresh, the ACF repeater fields on the page are all empty.
Questions:
Why does the ACF repeater content get cleared in the page editor after I edit content in a separate translated page?
How can I prevent the page content from being cleared out when updating a separate translated page?
We have a newer version of WPML (4.6.13), Strings Translation (3.2.14), and ACF Multilingual (2.1.4.2). The first step to toggle this problem is to update our plugins to their latest versions and see if the issue persists.
I have downloaded the most recent plugins from the downloads page and when our deployment pipeline tries to install the plugin it fails with a critical error.
I understand how ACF works with WPML, but how have I done it wrong based on my description? These repeater fields are all set to translatable and do not have an issue when these pages are saved independently. There is only an issue when multiple pages are opened up at once and saved.
For example, when /post.php?post=38316&action=edit&lang=us is saved, the URL becomes /post.php?post=38316&action=edit. Then when i save /post.php?post=30369&action=edit&lang=en in a separate tab (it is a translation of the other page) it saves fine, but when i go back to the other tab that has /post.php?post=38316&action=edit and refresh the page, THEN the repeater fields seemingly have their values cleared out.
There is no point in investigating this issue before all our plugins and the ACF plugin are updated to their latest versions. You might be facing a problem that has already been solved in the newest version of WPML.
Can you please share the fatal error you get while installing our plugins?
I finally was able to update the plugins to the latest version. After doing more testing, the issue is still persisting. I want to emphasize that this is only happening with the repeater fields.
