I want to disable WPML and only show english pages
fannyV-3 : I want to disable WPML and only show english pages, but as soon as i disable WPML the website switches back to Dutch (which was the first langauge earlier)
fannyV-3 : hidden link
I set english as default language
Bruno Kos : So wouldn\'t this be an expected behavior? That if you disable WPML the website will return into the state as it was before in terms of languages?
Bruno Kos : So the problem is that your front page shows Dutch, but you would like to have English page as a homepage?
It was Dutch and then translated into english and had both languages. Now we only want English but I can not disable WPML, the website changes back to Duthc. I want to set the English as default and ONLY language as it is now, but without WPML active... as soon as i deactive WPML its Dutch again.
This is expected behavior, before WPML was installed your site was created in Dutch therefore the 'true' default language of the site or 'original' language is Dutch and not English. When deactivating our plugin it is expected for the site to go back to its state before WPML.
When using WPML and setting a "default" language that is being done utilizing the plugin's code but once the plugin is deactivated that code will no longer take effect.
Have you translated the site from Dutch to English already?
If yes, and you want to deactivate WPML you will most likely get all the pages listed under the default language.
In that case, go to WordPress->Settings->General and change your site's language to the one desired (English) and you can then remove any unnecessary pages and keep the English ones.
If you wish to keep WPML you would go to WPML->Languages and change the default language.
