Setting up top bar language translation horizontally instead of current vertical display. Also, I have yet to find a way to translate the top bar text.
Is there any documentation that you are following? No
Thank you for contacting WPML Support. If you want to display a language switcher horizontally then you need to use the ‘List of languages’ option instead of dropdown from WPML >> Languages > Menu language switcher > Language switcher settings as you can see in the attached screenshot.
If you have added top bar text from Customizer/theme options then you should be able to translate it by following the below steps:
1. Please go to WPML >> String Translation and click on the “Translate texts in admin screens” link from the bottom of the page.
2. Search for the topbar string in the search box and select the checkbox of your required string and press the Add to String Translation button.
3. Now you can add the translation from the WPML >> String Translation page.
Okay, I got the text string translated. Now, tell me why my language switcher doesn't display properly even though I have done exactly as suggested. I am not using the dropdown option. I have tried the dropdown option, and that option doesn't work either. Something is screwing up things here. Can't you see? Look at the attachment again. Does it look like a dropdown menu with a down arrow???
Sorry for the delay in getting back, it was my weekend (Friday-Saturday). I’m available from now and if you are still facing any issues with the language switcher, please let me know.
Hi Normand, everything is fine now. The only thing I find strange is that almost every time I go back into the menu language switcher settings the menu type comes back to DROPDOWN, removing my earlier setting of LIST OF LANGUAGES.
Ok that is a bit odd. To take a closer look at this issue, Please provide temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP Login info) to your site (preferably staging site), so that I can look into your setup and debug the issue.
Your next answer will be private which means only you and I have access to it.
=== Please backup your database and website ===
✙ I would additionally need your permission to deactivate and reactivate Plugins and the Theme, and to change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is really important.
Thanks for providing the login details. This seems like a bug, changes are being saved correctly in the database and working correctly at the frontend but it shows the wrong values at the backend.
I’m going to reproduce it at a fresh WP site and then escalate it to 2nd tier support for further debugging.
I’m able to reproduce it at the fresh WP site here: hidden link
And escalated to the development team.
From the support end, I have done everything I had in my power. I hope the development team can solve it as soon as possible. Can you please consider changing the ratings by marking the ticket as resolved?
I will change the ticket status again and will update you as the dev team will make progress.
Thank you for your cooperation and help.
