[Resolved] Some RankMath SEO Titles can't be translated
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The term meta title is translated in String Translation but it does not display on the translation term page. Solution:
1. Go to WPML > Settings > Custom Term Meta Translation > Set the preference of "rank_math_title" to "Copy".
2. Edit the term in the English language > Click on Save to sync the term meta to the translation.

Tell us what you are trying to do?
I am trying to translate the SEO title of a taxonomy page. I added the SEO title using RankMath SEO, and the taxonomy was created using JetEngine (JetEngine -> Taxonomies).
When I am following the RankMath tutorial (hidden link) and adding translations using WPML String Editor, nothing happens - the old SEO title is still used for taxonomy pages like this one: hidden link However, this tutorial works well with other pages.
You can see what it looks like in the RankMath SEO settings, WPML String translations, and on the website in the attached screenshots.
Is there any documentation that you are following?
Yes, this one: hidden link
Thank you for contacting WPML support, I'd be happy to help you with this issue.
It looks like a caching issue. I test this feature again on the local host and do not see that. You can try to:
- update WPML to the new version 4.6.7, following the documentation https://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/#checking-for-updates
- clear all caches (plugin, browser, hosting ...)
- disable all unrelated plugins and switch to the main theme Hello Elementor
and recheck this issue.
❌ IMPORTANT: Please backup your database and website before proceeding ❌
I updated WPML to the latest version and cleared caches of WPML, browser, and hosting - unfortunately, no result. We use the "Hello Elementor Child" theme, so do you think switching to just "Hello Elementor" will help? And what do you mean by "unrelated plugins"? Please let me know.
However, I noticed that this particular city has a correct title, but only in Japanese: hidden link When I switch to other languages like Spanish - I still see "Archives" included which means the title is not correct: hidden link
Do you know what possibly can be an issue? We have the latest version of WPML and WPML String Translation plugins installed.
do you think switching to just "Hello Elementor" will help? And what do you mean by "unrelated plugins"?
I'm not sure what code you have in the child theme so just switch to the main theme and recheck. And related plugins are WPML plugins, RankMath, JetEngine, other ones are not related to the taxonomy SEO title.
If it does not help, I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.

You can use this plugin to create the backup: https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/
✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme to change configurations on the site if needed. This is also a reason the backup is critical.
Somehow the translation terms have their own meta title. I fixed the issue by following steps:
1. Go to WPML > Settings > Custom Term Meta Translation > Set the preference of "rank_math_title" to "Copy".
2. Edit the term in the English language > Click on Save to sync the term meta to the translation.
Now you can see the translation term meta title displayed correctly in the frontend.
