Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate a specific area like the 'read more' button on my site hidden link. I followed the documentation provided in the links: hidden link and https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/finding-strings-that-dont-appear-on-the-string-translation-page/.

Symptoms:
I can't translate the 'read more' button despite following the documentation.

Questions:
How can I translate the 'read more' button using WPML?

Hello there,

Can you try the following procedure to try to include and translate that string?

Please go to WPML -> String Translation and enable the option "Look for strings while pages are rendered", then visit the page in which the text is located and go back to the String Translation, refresh the page and check if you'll be able to locate new strings now. (Please don't forget to uncheck the option "Look for strings while pages are rendered" once you're done). Translate the new strings and see if it gets the issue fixed.

If it doesn't work, I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:

**IMPORTANT**

- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link

Please, let me know if you need any additional details. Have a nice day.

Hello there,

I checked it and the 'Read more' text seems to be added using an Elementor custom widget. We'd have to register it for translation.

To confirm it, can you please check it and let me know where you'd go if you wanted to edit the original 'Read more' text?

This will help me identify how to register that text for translation.

Thank you,
Mateus

Hi again,
Are you asking where to direct the link? I didn't fully understand your question

Let's say you needed to edit the Read more text in English to something like 'Read +' for example.

Where you'd go in the back end or what file in the wp-content folder you would edit in order to change this text? Is it in a template, for example?

I just need to check how the widget is set up for me to register it for translation, seeing where you'd edit it will help me check it.

Hello there,

I tried to temporarily edit the Read More, to for example Read More with an extra space, just a minor change to confirm where this text is coming from, but no change I make in the customizer seems to reflect in the home page, it continue displaying 'Read More' regardless of the value I put in there. Can you please test it to confirm what I'm saying regarding this text?

I downloaded the theme and looked for where this text might be coming from, I can see it in a few files, but even if I update it directly in there it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I looked for a template part where the cards are created but I couldn't find it.

Knowing where the text comes from makes all the difference in understanding why it is not translating even though it is added to String Translation and translated in there.

Would you be able to send this to the theme author and ask them for further guidance on where this text is coming from or how to customize the read more text in English, which would also help us identify the issue here?

Thank you,
Mateus
