This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client is planning to switch to a new domain and is unsure if anything needs to be done in WPML after the switch. Additionally, the client is questioning whether to switch from "development" to "production" mode before or after the migration.
Solution:
We recommend re-registering WPML every time you migrate your website or change your domain. Here are the steps to follow:
1) Visit https://wpml.org/account/websites/
2) Enter your new site URL to create a new site key.
3) Click on “Show key” and copy it.
4) Navigate to Plugins > Install > Commercial (Tab) on your WordPress dashboard to enter the key and register WPML. If WPML is still registered, you should deregister it first.
Regarding the switch from "development" to "production" mode, you can do this at any time using the "Gear" icon on your account page at https://wpml.org/account/sites/. If you are changing the site URL, you might not need to switch; simply register the new site URL. However, remember that with Multilingual CMS, you can only have three production sites.
If you encounter issues when switching to production, please consult our guide at https://wpml.org/faq/what-is-the-difference-between-production-and-development-sites-in-wpml/.
If this solution does not apply to your situation, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If you still need assistance, please open a new support ticket at our support forum.
