This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client wants to synchronize content between the Italian and German versions of their website, where some content is translated and some is not.

Solution:
1. We recommend using the WPML 'Duplicate' feature to copy content from the Italian site to the German site where translations are missing. This will ensure that changes in the Italian content are automatically applied to the German version. For detailed instructions, please visit Displaying Untranslated Content on Pages in Secondary Languages.

2. If your site uses custom fields, you can decide which custom fields should be translated and which should be copied (synchronized) between languages. This allows you to keep some fields synchronized across languages while translating others. For guidance on this process, please refer to Translating Custom Fields.

By following these steps, you can ensure that specific content remains synchronized between the Italian and German versions of your site, while still allowing for translations where needed.

Hello i want to ask if it is possible to synchronise the translations from one language to the other if the translation is missing. The problem is that i have a website which has content in italian and german. But some content on german site is not translated. In that case i want to have that if i change the content on italian site then it should change that content on german site too. So kinda synchronising the languages. But keep in mind that some text is also translated on that site. So some content should be synchronised from italian and some not. Is there a way to solve this with wpml?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support!

Can you please check the following:

1. **Duplicate Content for Synchronization**: Use WPML's 'Duplicate' feature to copy content from the Italian site to the German site where translations are missing. This ensures that changes in the Italian content are automatically applied to the German version. For detailed instructions, visit [Displaying Untranslated Content on Pages in Secondary Languages](https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/#duplicating-content).

2. **Selective Translation for Custom Fields**: If your site utilizes custom fields, you can specify which custom fields should be translated and which should be copied (synchronized) between languages. This allows you to keep some fields synchronized across languages while translating others. For guidance on this process, refer to [Translating Custom Fields](https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-custom-fields/#indicating-which-custom-fields-to-translate).

By following these steps, you can ensure that specific content remains synchronized between the Italian and German versions of your site, while still allowing for translations where needed.

Hello Bruno and thank you very much for your quick answer.
So i have to use the duplicate option according to the table in your link.
My question is: Can i also just sync the content of a part of the page? So that half the page is translated and the other half is synced with italian content?
As for now when i translate the content in italian i get this loading symbol on the page (see screenshot SCR_20240327_mtbs.png), then i have to click on it and copy the italian content to the german site with the copy sybol (see screenshot SCR_20240327_mssw.png). But i want to sync it automatically. Any chance to do this?
Also what is the difference betwenn the symbold 1 and 2 in my screenshot (SCR_20240327_mtbs.png)? would be nice if you explain me this too.

"Can i also just sync the content of a part of the page?"

That will not work as this function will synchronize everything.

But in order to translate something, but copy other parts of the content, you can consider ACF: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/expert-translation-option/
