Thanks for your patience. I've forwarded this back to our 2nd Tier Support and they will provide some guidance on how to do this correctly. I will come back to you once I've feedback.
This is what our 2nd Tier Support suggested. Please backup everything before you proceed.
Note : we will work on this page hidden link .
1. Navigate to your server phpmyadmin
2. Locate wp_postmeta and search for the meta_value example "Preparati a un viaggio nell’eccellenza Made in Modena. Fatto ad rate".
You can use this SQL query.
SELECT *
FROM wp_postmeta
WHERE meta_value = 'Preparati a un viaggio nell'eccellenza Made in Modena. Fatto ad arte.';
Then, you will get the result shown in the attached screenshot.
3. Delete all values and make sure not to delete the one that is translated.
Save/update the page and then, translate the page using the Advanced Translation Editor. Check and see if the duplicated content still shows up.
Hi,
we carefully followed your instructions in order to remove the acf fields not used on the WPML editor.
We deleted the entries on our database for the postmeta related to the post and cleared any type of cache but the problem remains.
We cannot figure out where those acf fields are located because, on our side, there is no more any trace of them.
Nor why and how the wpml translation editor still uses them.
(see screenshots 01 and 02)
We also removed all revisions of the post.
Can you please help us by logging in on our staging website and try to solve the issue?
You guys have an admin-level access to wp-admin and to the database (via wp-WP plugin).
I've tested and it seems to work fine when I try to remove it from the database. You can refer to this screen recording hidden link . Also, the title that you removed is no longer there.
Still not solved
It's like a gigantic mess: fixing one problem, another comes out
We learned (the hard way...) that WPML advanced editor + advanced use of ACF = trouble
And we're not newbies, some of us have more than a decade of wp development under his belts.
We spend an insane amount of time trying to debug and solve WPML+ACF issues.
Guys, this is not the way to go: the product has serious flaws and that could undermine a project from the foundations up.
Sorry, I'm not sure if we are referring to the same issue. As shown in my screen recording, I've successfully removed the revisions/duplicates from the Advanced Translation Editor/WPML Translation Editor.
Are you saying that you are not happy with the solution/workaround that we've provided? Or are you facing another issue as you mentioned "fixing one problem, another comes out". Please elaborate a little bit more.
Anyway we are not happy with the product: after implementing the last suggested solution we should input again many translations in the wpml advanced editor (the one having two columns, with languages side by side, hosted on your domain).
But if we use the wordpress editor (the "local" one with two columns with languages side by side) the translations do not have to be re-entered.
Same with editing the english version of the post.
Also in the XLIFF files there is a lot of confusion.
We have been working on this issue for more than a month: now we have to realise that we are on a dead end.
Again, acf+wpml = trouble.
The integration for advanced features is too weak and messy.
A lesson learned.
So please go ahead and close this ticket, we will figure out a workaround.
Again, we appreciated your support.
