I just opened the translation for the store page, confirmed all segments, and completed the translation.

The status remains as completed.

Do you maybe have another example?

Wollen wir auf jetzt auf englische Kommunikation umsteigen? Ok.

I can see that. In the original page I also removed now the unnecessary text "mg" which I added for testing purposes and updated. Thereafter the gear appeared, which was expected and correct. In the translation editor "mg" was not visible (anymore?), which is correct. I clicked "complete translation" and the pen appeared in the backend, the front end shows in English and German the correct content.

So far so good. The question is why we see these problems as described on a regular basis, and you fix it by doing exactly the same as we did previously several times. Where is the difference, what do you do differently, or what has happened meanwhile?

And you saw the screenshots which shows the problem clearly?

I need to add that I used the classic translation editor because the new one has too many bugs, as already explained previously. It seemed to me that the CTE has less issues. Did you use the ATE or the CTE, is this maybe the difference?

I have the feeling that we are not entirely believed that we 1.) have all these problems 2.) use WPML as we are supposed to do. I will take a screen recording next time I experience such a problem, maybe this helps to find the root cause.

We continue to translate pages, I will come back with more information and details as soon as we run into the next problems.

Is there maybe a cache which needs to be cleared in those case, and maybe it was now accidentally cleared before you tried to mimic the above situation?

After closer checking this page there is still a problem. The footer in Englisch is correct (default footer), in German another footer is shown. I wonder why the footer settings are mot synchronized in the translation.
Please compare the footers of
hidden link
vs
hidden link

If this needs to be handled as separate support case please feel free to split this case here.

New threads created by Andreas W. and linked to this one are listed below:

Yes, I saw your screenshot and it related to the original content, correct?

If you edit the original content and see the changes on the WordPress Editor, and on the WPML Translation Editor, but not on Frontend, then this might be a cache issue.

If this happens on the original content, then it might even not be related to WPML.

If the issue occurs again, try clearing the cache and verify if this solves the issue.

To troubleshoot such an issue we would need to know how to recreate it.

---

Please take kindly note, that we only handle one issue per ticket. I am splitting the request about the footer into a new ticket and will contact you there shortly.

"If you edit the original content and see the changes on the WordPress Editor, and on the WPML Translation Editor, but not on Frontend, then this might be a cache issue."

No, the changes did not reflect in the WMP TE.
The frontend shows the correct, new English content and the outdated German content.

Anyway, since you edited the page the WPML TE shows the correct texts and the German content in the frontend is correct and we don't know why, except the footer, but this is another problem, handled in the new ticket.

Thank you for your message!

It may sometimes happen that the translation gets stuck. In this case, it helps to edit the original content, save the content again,n and then update the translation.

I did this a few times. As mentioned above I added the text "mg" and updated. This didn't (re-)trigger the translation. I removed it, this didn't change anything either.
I also added a new WordPress Bakery element, updated, removed it, and updated again.

When it happens again I will try editing and saving again, if it doesn't help I post here or open a new ticket.

It took not long until it happened again ...

I did in this page hidden link a minor change, I changed the URL in the buy-now button, which is in the right top of the page. This was the only change.

After updating the page the gear icon appeared, as usual and which is correct. I opened the WPML translation editor, all translations seemed ok, nothing was marked orange, I clicked on "complete translation" which was confirmed with the success message.

But the gear box is still there afterwards.

In the English frontend the button links now to the correct URL.
But in the German frontend the button still links to the previous, old URL.
The German page was not synced.

-> how can I force WPML to
1. update the URL
2. mark the translation as done

?

If I search for "profilux" on the WPML Translation Editor, then I can see that this URL is made available inside the editor and is not yet translated.

See screenshot.

Let me explain in more detail:

The button, is using the following shortcode:

[dt_default_button link="url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aquariumcomputer.com%2Fproduct-category%2Fmeasuring-controlling%2Fprofilux-aquarium-controller%2F" size="custom" button_alignment="btn_center" animation="fadeInRightBig" font_size="16px" icon_size="12px" button_padding="13px 20px 13px 20px" border_radius="10px" btn_decoration="btn_shadow" icon_type="picker" icon_picker="icomoon-the7-font-the7-cart-13"]BUY NOW[/dt_default_button]

This is a custom widget from The7 Theme for WP Bakery Page Builder.

The first argument is "link".

Inside this argument, you will find:
url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aquariumcomputer.com%2Fproduct-category%2Fmeasuring-controlling%2Fprofilux-aquarium-controller%2F

The custom XML config for this widget will send this text to the WPML Translation Editor. WPML can sadly not automatically adjust such a link.

You will need to update the translation.

I am sorry that I don't understand this reply.

"The custom XML config for this widget will send this text to the WPML Translation Editor" - but I can't find a relating entry in the translation editor. I see "buy now" but I don't see this link. Where could I translate it manually?

I viewed the translation in both editor versions, didn't see it in both. But interesting is that I can see and edit links in the old editor, for example:
hidden link
is translated to
hidden link
But: in the new ("advanced") editor the links are not shown and therefore not editable.

Summary: Where and how do I translate that link?

Also, to translate all links to our shop manually would be a huge effort.
How could we achieve that the links to the German products respective categories are assigned automatically?

The shop is multilingual, using WPML. When you follow this link in question
hidden link
and click German you will be redirected to
hidden link

All products and categories are translated.

Note: I just got another problem where the translation is not shown. Since that case is different (now depending on log-in status) I felt so free and opened a new ticket so we don't need to split this thread here.
It is: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/translation-not-shown-when/

And here is another page with this problem. We open now for every page where WPML makes problems a new ticket, this one is here: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/page-translated-and-completed-but-shown-translation-not-updated/

Here is another page where translation is at 100% and has been completed, but WPML shows the gear icon and the German translation is not shown in the frontend:
hidden link

Do you want me to open for every page which is translated and completed but the gear icon appears and the translation is not shown to open a new ticket?

There are more pages showing this behavior.
