This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing issues with registering their site on WPML due to a discrepancy between the SiteURL and HomeURL. The site is built on the Bedrock platform, which causes the URLs to differ, and the client's developer is unable to make them the same without breaking the site.

Solution:
We recommend updating all WPML plugins and WordPress to the latest versions to ensure compatibility and to benefit from the latest bug fixes and improvements. This may not resolve the issue, but it is a necessary step for troubleshooting.

1. Backup the database.
2. Update the WPML plugin to the latest version, currently 4.6.9, and all add-ons.
3. Update WordPress to the latest version.
4. After updating, attempt to register the site again and provide a screenshot of any errors, along with the URL used for registration.

Instructions for updating can be found here: http://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/

If the problem persists after following these steps, or if this solution is not relevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If necessary, please open a new support ticket for further assistance: WPML support forum.

This is a continuation of a ticket connected to this account that was closed.

Your latest response was as follows:

"Hello there,

Thank you for contacting us. I see in your debug info that you have the following config:

SiteURL hidden link
HomeURL hidden link

Where the SiteURL differs from the Home. This caused some issues in the past. Is it possible for you to make both fields the same? They will be set up either in the wp-config.php file or inside wp-admin > Settings

After that, can you please try to update the key in the wp-config file? To do so, please follow the steps:

- Temporarily remove your website here: (https://wpml.org/account/sites/)
- Add the website again(make sure to use the same format as in the SITEURL field, eg: 'hidden link') and copy the new generated key
- Edit the wp-config.php and update the value of the constant OTGS_INSTALLER_SITE_KEY_WPML with the new key.

Thank you, please let us know."

I passed this onto our developer and their response is as follows:

I'm just looking at the WPML feedback regarding the siteURL and homepage settings. The reason they are different is that the website is built using the 'Bedrock' platform which moves parts of the typical WordPress build into different folders. I'm unable to make the two urls the same without breaking the site. I don't think this is the issue however as the UAT site isn't suffering from this same issue. Could you feed this back to the guys at WPML and get their thoughts.

Can you let me know your thoughts on the above? This problem has been ongoing for some time and it makes it difficult when the ticket keeps getting closed before I acknowledge that the problem is resolved.

Thanks,
Harry

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

The support ticket might be closed due to inactivity. This happens automatically by the system.

Could you please share a screenshot of the error you are getting when registering the site? Also, please provide the URL you registered for your account.

But first, I noticed you are using outdated WPML plugins and WordPress. Please update your WPML plugin to the latest version, 4.6.9, and add-ons to benefit from the latest bug fixes and improvements. This may not necessarily resolve your problem, however, in order to troubleshoot the issue best we need to work on the latest code available. WordPress needs to be updated, too.

You can check the latest releases under "My Account -> Downloads" on this site. Instructions to update can be found here: http://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/

Please remember to backup your database first before you proceed.

Let me know if the issue persists after an update has been done.
