Since I opened a new location for my restaurant, I have made a copy from the old site and opened the site on a new domain. My plugin thinks that the website is still registrerd on the key from the old domain, and because of this the plugin can't connect to the WPML server. I never got a screen for the migration wizard either to change the key.
I tried to un-register the site but after clicking the button I just get to see the loading icon but nothing actually happens. Removing and re-installing the plugins also don't seem to work. Is there a certain database line that I can flush to resolve the issue?
Is there any documentation that you are following?
Just to add to the previous message: I already tried to un-register wordpress from the 'old' domain, and while I was able to do this on that website, it didn't fix the issue for the site on the new domain.
If clicking unregister doesn't work, can you try with only WPML plugin and a default WordPress theme like 2021 or 2023? I suspect something conflicting is in play here.
Remember to take full backup before proceeding!!
On the other hand, you can also delete the key from your wpml.org account (https://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/#unregister), then click "Check for updates" in your site under Plugins -> Add New -> Commercial. This way since the key would have been deleted, WPML should be able to recognize it. Then you can create a new key and register accordingly.
I tried everything in the second suggestion you made but nothing worked. The site keeps saying it cannot connect to WPML server so nothing changes when I remove the keys and check for updates. So it seems that there is something stored in my database that makes the plugin think is already registered. Can't I just manually remove this from the database?
I am not sure what you mean with the first suggestion. I was already able to manually install WPML CMS but the connection issue seems to break some functions in my theme as I can't correctly install other plugins such as toolset and contact form 7.
The issue is resolved, the new website was apparently running on a server with pHp 8.1 while the old website was still running on 7.4. After upgrading I was able to resolve the problem.
