This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is trying to import taxonomies and products for a WooCommerce site using WPML but encounters an issue where the content is imported in one language only, without creating translations.
Solution:
We recommend creating separate files for the taxonomies in each language. Import the taxonomies as translations of each other, then import the products in the original language, linking to the categories in the same language. This approach is detailed in our documentation here: Exporting Multilingual Content.
Alternatively, you can use a single file containing the taxonomies in all languages if you configure it correctly. Both methods are valid and depend on your preference and setup. For further guidance, refer to the section in our documentation here: Preparing Import Files for WPML.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your specific case, please check related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verify the version of the permanent fix, and confirm that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. We highly recommend opening a new support ticket for personalized assistance. You can contact our support team directly through our support forum here: WPML Support Forum.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to import my taxonomies and my products (woocommerce) on the site hidden link using WPML.

Symptoms:
The content is imported in on language, no translation is created.

Questions:
Why does my import create 3 taxonomies in 1 language instead of 1 taxoxnomi in 3 languages?

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us

This is expected as no content in secondary language is added. To solve this problem you must create a separate file for the taxonomies in the original language and one file for the translations -> Import the taxonomies in each language as translations of each other -> Then import the products in the original language pointing to the categories in the same language as described this link: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-export-and-import/#export-multilingual-content

Regards,
Carlos

Hello,
I don't understand why the documentation says that I need 1 file for the taxonomies and you tell me that I need multiple?
In the demo categories spreadsheet everything is in one file : hidden link

How do I import my translation as a translation of the original?

Hi,

You can use one file containing the taxonomies in all languages, or you can use one file per language. It will depend on how you setup the configuration, but the result will be the same 🙂

So to import my taxonomies, I should have a file for each language.

I import them all one after the other and WPML will be able to sync everything together?

Will it sync them using _wpml_import_translation_group?

So I DO NOT follow this documentation that the other support told me to use: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-export-and-import/preparing-import-files-for-wpml-export-and-import/#creating-spreadsheets-with-language-columns

Hi,

Both methods are correct for importing the taxonomies and the contents. You just need to use the one you feel more comfortable with 🙂

If you need any assistance with the export/import process just let me know and I'll be more than happy to help you.

Hello,

I would like to clarify the process for importing my three languages. Do I need to import each language separately before running the WPML import?

Additionally, can you explain why importing from a single file isn't working? Ideally, I would prefer to use a single file for this setup.

When I attempt to import from a single file, it seems that the elements are not recognized as translations and are grouped incorrectly.

Is there a way to talk to a live chat?

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi,

The first sentence right below the section title in the documentation you were following (https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-export-and-import/preparing-import-files-for-wpml-export-and-import/#creating-spreadsheets-with-language-columns) explains it all: "Depending on your import tool, you may need to prepare one or two spreadsheets."

Yes, you can open a chat ticket and chat in real-time with our support service.
