[Waiting for user confirmation] WPML translate automatically content that should not be changed
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
WordPress 6.7 has introduced a new issue that impact translations, please update WooCommerce and WPML to the latest versions before you report issues. More about this here - https://wpml.org/errata/php-error-wp-6-7-notice-function-_load_textdomain_just_in_time-was-called/
Background of the issue:
I have a site where the 'Translation Mode' is set to 'Translate What You Choose', but content is being translated automatically. For example, on the 'Careers' page, the title was changed from 'Jobs...' to 'Banen...'. Here are the links to the screenshots: hidden link and hidden link. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link.
Symptoms:
Content is being translated automatically despite the 'Translate What You Choose' setting.
Questions:
Why is content being translated automatically when 'Translate What You Choose' is selected?
How can I prevent automatic translation of content?
The following is true even when 'Translate What You Choose' is selected. It happens when you have available automatic translation credits or are registered to the Pay-as-you-go option. However, you have the option to undo the automatic translation and then decide if you want WPML to translate the content next time automatically or not. Please see the attached screenshots.
I'm sorry if I was not clear enough. That option was there the first time you translated the page. Now, after accepting the translations, it is not there. But you still should have the option to edit the translation and change 'Banen' to 'Jobs' or any other translation you need.
Yes, there is an option to cancel that. The first time you click the `Undo translation` (see my screenshot from November 19), you can select the option `No- don't translate automatically` and then the Advanced Translation Editor will not translate automatically by default, only if you click the `Translate automatically` button. The primary setting for this can be found when you click the gear icon in the right-top corner of the Advanced Translation Editor. Then, a pop-up appears. The first option is `Translate all content automatically when the editor opens`. Unselecting this option will cancel this feature. Please see the attached screenshot.
