This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client is unable to update the WPML plugins (sitepress-multilingual-cms, wpml-cms-nav, and wpml-media-translation) and is experiencing an error with the language switcher function, where the expected dropdown does not appear.
Solution:
1. To manually check for WPML updates:
- Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin in WordPress admin.
- Switch to the Commercial tab.
- Click the Check for updates button.
2. If updates are not visible or if there are issues updating through WordPress, use the OTGS Installer for a manual update:
- Download the OTGS Installer from https://wpml.org/account/downloads/.
- Deactivate and delete the current WPML plugins.
- Upload and activate the OTGS Installer, then download and activate the necessary WPML components.
3. To resolve the language switcher issue:
- Clear WPML's cache via WPML → Support → Troubleshooting and click the Clear the Cache in WPML button.
- Ensure WordPress translations are up-to-date in Dashboard → Updates.
If these steps do not resolve the issues or if the solution seems outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.
