[Resolved] Is it possible to automatically translate German and Chinese into English?
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client wants to submit articles in Japanese and then translate them into English manually or automatically. After that, they wish to have the English translation machine translated into Chinese and German. Solution: First, translate the post from Japanese to English using WPML > Translation Management. This can be done either manually or automatically. Once the English translation is ready, you can then manually send the post for translation from English to German or Chinese. In the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE), you can use the automatic translation feature to translate the content from English to German/Chinese automatically or manually.
Please note that the solution provided might not be applicable if it's outdated or not relevant to your specific case. We recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket with us.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
In addition, I have one more question,
Is it possible to automatically translate German and Chinese into English for each article while the base language remains Japanese?
Here is the new ticket. I understand you want to translate a post from German and Chinese language automatically into English when the site's default language is Japanese.
Currently, it isn't possible to send the post to automatic translation from WPML > Translation Management if the original language of the post isn't Japanese.
However, you can translate the post manually, in the Advanced Translation Editor, you can translate content automatically.
The current base language of the website is "Japanese".
I would like to submit a new article in "Japanese" and then translate that article into English manually or automatically.
I would like to have that article machine translated into Chinese and German based on the English translation.
So you want to translate a post from Japanese to English, then translate the translation in English to German and Chinese.
It is similar to the case that I explained above. You can send the post to automatic translation or manual translation from Japanese to English in WPML > Translation Management.
Then you can send the post to translation manually from English to German or Chinese and use the automatic translation feature in Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) to translate content automatically or manually there.
In general, on your site, you can only send the post to automatic translation from Japanese to a second language. In ATE, you can translate content automatically from English to German/Chinese.
I understand that it is possible to translate German and Chinese on an English basis for submitted articles.
Thank you very much.
I also have a separate question,
Is it possible to specify the Chinese as Traditional Chinese and apply machine translation, but have the Simplified Chinese sentences mixed in?
This is a confirmation as the client pointed this out to us.
Yes, it is possible. From WPML > Languages > Sites languages > Edit languages, you can map the Chinese (Traditional) to your Chinese language to use the automatic translation.
Then when editing the translation in ATE, you can change some sentences to Chinese (Simplified) on your own. Then it will be saved to the translation memory and applied for the future translation of the same sentence.
