This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is attempting to import a site using qTranslate-X into a development site with WPML. The import process is consistently failing, getting stuck at different batch numbers, such as 835 and 999.
Solution: 1. We recommend setting up a staging environment with only qTranslate-X enabled, all other plugins disabled, and the theme switched to a default one. This helps to eliminate any additional variables that could be causing the issue.
2. After setting up the staging environment, we suggest disabling and enabling qTranslate-X multiple times to check for errors.
3. We also advise upgrading the PHP version to 8.0, ensuring that qTranslate-X is disabled during this process to prevent potential site breakage.
4. If the problem persists, we recommend providing working FTP credentials so we can investigate the cause of the crash and attempt to complete the import process.

Tell us what you are trying to do?
I want to import liquidfeed.de into a dev site, edfman.dev.synectics.ro. The original uses qTranslate-X and even if is not visible, it has 2 languages: German (primary) and English. I tried already several times to import the content and it is blocking every time somewhere after batch #999. Now is blocked at 835 batch. The other times has been blocked at 999, 1220.
Is there any documentation that you are following?
Yes, I followed the importer steps from the documentation. Saved qTranslate-X languages, disable qTranslate-X, activate WPML, activate importer and import.
Hello again,
Any suggestion? I tried already 8 times. Last time, before starting the import, I rechecked that all tables to have the same collation, I checked for WPML to have a licence registered, I removed some tables from plugins which should not be there because I've uninstalled them. Still, the import stuck at 1021 batch. I checked in Pages sections and the counter shows that I have in total 9, but it doesn't show any in the list. If I count all the batches, 1021 * 10 updates per batch, should have been about 10 210 updates. The site is a very small one. Is this a real number for such a site?

Hi there!
Would it be possible for you to send us a site copy before the import or migrate a version of your site (befre you ran the migration to WPML) so i can try to figure out what the problem is?
I can provide a site for you to migrate and instructions on how to do it if you decide to go down that route. otherwise, you can create a site backup with a plugin of your choice (just make sure we don't need to buy a premium version to import it afterwards. we suggest All In One Migration) and send it to us via dropbox, wetransfer or any other similar platform of your choice.
Hi Alejandro,
Thanks for your time. hidden link
Above is the WeTransfer link for the backup. It is a sql file for DB and a tar.gz archive with the website. The DB connection (DB_NAME, DB_USER, ...) were outside the root's website.

No problem, allow me some time to upload this on a server and then check it out. if i encounter any issue, i'll send it to a dev and then come back to you when i have more news to share here.

It seems the reason why it fails is because qtranslate is not really setup correctly in the database and has some issues. i encountered the issues while just disabling and enabling it.
Would it be possible for you to setup a staging environment where you have ONLY qtranslate X enabled, with the plugins disabled and the theme switched to an original one? the reason behind this request is that it will prevent having "extra variables" that could also cause this.
After you do it, on your server, can you allow me to have access to it so i can run the test there directly? let me know if you also encounter the issue (disable and enable the plugin a few times to see if it triggers an error on your end or not).
Hi Alejandro.
My apologies! The FTP hostname should be edfman.dev.synectics.ro because, in fact, synectics.ro is on other server and only subdomains of dev.synectics.ro are located here. So, either you use edfman.dev.synectics.ro or the IP which is 91.188.226.100.

Ok, one next step into fixing this problem is to upgrade your PHP version to 8.0, would it be possible for you to do it? make sure qtranslate-x is disabled when that happens or it could instead break the site.
Please let me know when you do that so i can continue 🙂

ok i see the problem now and i asked advice to our developers. in my case it does work but it takes way too much to finish (it loads batches and batches and never really finishes, actually).
Let's see what they tell me and i'll get back to you.
