Hey, we have a problem on the website: hidden link

It worked fine up until recently, now on every save ACF/WPML just wipes out it's content and it's not saving anything. Neither is possible to edit existing page or create a new one. Can you please look it up?

I have contacted the ACF team and they troubleshooted and found out that the bug is most likely in ACFML. Can you please assist me with this?

please do not share credentials in your reply if have not enabled private reply, as this is a public forum and anybody can see it.

1) Please confirm issue still happens with the WP default theme and that only WPML plugins are enabled and ACF; all other disabled.

2) Please share the URL to the page where we can see the issue and an image or video of the steps so we can understand better.

3) Make sure your ACF custom fields have set correct translation settings as per our docs

4) Please share admin access to next private reply fields and make sure to have a backup.

I will do my best, but that case was closed and we were also able to reproduce the issue with WPML disabled so it was not specific to WPML. I would advise checking if still happens the same and making sure it works fine without WPML.

If the behavior is now different we will need to build a new case and follow our procedure.

So, if yes, and in order to check further, please share with me step by step guide on how can I check the issue and what goes wrong.

In the meantime, I will also check on this issue with my team and ACFML dev, to see if ACF has already shared this insight and this might help speed things up.

Hey Dražen, basically the problem is occuring when trying to update some content in pages. While loading the page in backend all fields are wiped, and on every update of the page everything from content is fully wiped. I was in communication with ACF for more than a month and after their investigation they concluded that the problem is in ACFML plugin which is developed by WPML.

thanks for getting back.

I checked further on this and seems the ACF team has not concluded the investigation to end, they suspected but they say there were some configuration errors there and they waited for your reply but haven't received one. I still think the issue was not ACFML's fault, since the same problem happened when WPML was disabled.

Anyway, what I did on your staging site is: disabled all other plugins and left only WPML plugins and ACF, updated them to the latest, and the issue still happened.

Then I checked your ACF field groups and I see you have a lot of them, and some of them look like duplicates of the same groups / fields etc. Once I left only 1 group it seemed to work fine.

So issue seems to be related to other groups, which is expected if you have multiple same fields / groups, which is a limitation by ACF, you can not have the same field names etc, and that is why the issue still happens without ACFML.

Anyway, I suggest checking if the issue still happens now and start restoring only the field groups you need and make sure they are unique, and field names are unique. If the issue still happens, let me know and I will check further.

Hey Dražen, that's awesome, we have some progress, did you change any settings in ACF, because I tried removing them on Prod but the issue still persisted. I will go one by one, and get back to you.
