Background of the issue:
We have the WPML plugin set to not automatically translate content, only translating what we choose. I created a new home page and a French version by duplicating the English page and manually translating the content. I told WPML what the French version of the page was, so it knows where to redirect when switching languages. It is set to not update any translations.
Symptoms:
The French page keeps automatically switching back to English, sometimes minutes later, sometimes a week later. Additionally, the language switcher in the header menu has stopped appearing on the French version of the site, preventing switching back to English.
Questions:
Why does the French page keep automatically switching back to English despite being set to not update translations?
Why has the language switcher in the header menu stopped appearing on the French version of the site?
Automatic translations are off. The French version of the page is set so it knows which is French and which is English. I've changed the "Translations" from "WPML Translation Editor" to "WordPress Editor" to tell it further "do not translate this it's already handled". And it keeps switching back.
I keep manually rolling back the version in Elementor to the French version, but then it just switches itself back to English! It's driving us crazy.
Unfortunately this resolution doesn't work for us, the French page is updating to English even when the English version of the page is not touched at all. Even if I manually fix the French page and do not touch the English page, most of the content on the French page reverts back to English by itself.
