Background of the issue:
I am trying to manage translations on my site hidden link using WPML. I am facing several issues related to setting a translated page to 'review', editing translated pages with Elementor when language is hidden, auto-translation of front page headers, and menu synchronization.
Symptoms:
1. Unable to reset/set an existing translated page to 'review' for the translator. 2. Cannot edit an existing translated page using Elementor when the language is hidden. 3. Auto-translation is not detecting front page headers. 4. Menu Sync kept root pages in English despite being translated.
Questions:
How can I set a current page as 'Needs Review'?
Why can't I edit an existing translated page using Elementor when the language is hidden?
Why are front page headers not being detected by auto-translation?
Why did Menu Sync keep root pages in English despite being translated?
IMPORTANT: Please take full backup of your website and database beforehand.
It is highly advised to try this on a staging/dev site first, so your live website isn't compromised.
- Update WPML plugins to the latest versions.
- Update all other plugins specially the ones involved in the said process, to the latest versions.
- Update theme to the latest version if needed.
Alternatively, you can always open the page or post for editing, either in default language or switch from top admin bar for translation and then from sidebar, change status from Published to Pending (see attached).
Please note, that I've answered about "How can I set a current page as 'Needs Review'?" in this ticket. For the other question/issue, I recommend opening a separate ticket because as per forum policy we can only handle one issue per ticket/chat. So you can get more to the point help, without mixing up several issues in one long ticket.
For the "Completed - needs update", you have to update the translation and then check again.
Please remember:
- to update WPML plugins first, have you done that?
- if the translation had previously been published, you need to open it in WordPress Editor and then change the status from Publish to Pending from there. For this go to edit the post in default language, then from top admin bar switch to other language which you want to set pending and from the sidebar change the status.
It'd be great if you can record your screen and share with me about how you're doing this and where you're expecting it. Please also record plugins page showing WPML plugin versions.
I did that as I mentioned, and it did not work. I tried to upload a recorded screen video last week, which was 70 Mb and the upload progress went endlessly (did not work as well).
I need to take a closer look at your site. So I request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP), preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.
Your next answer will be private, to share this information safely.
Also provide detailed steps to reproduce the issue and links to pages in admin and on frontend.
IMPORTANT: Please take a complete backup of the site to avoid data loss. I may need to activate/deactivate plugins also.
