Background of the issue:
I am trying to show all languages in the language switcher on my website. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link

Symptoms:
I expected to see all languages showing up in the footer switcher, but Spanish and Slovenian are missing.

Questions:
Why are Spanish and Slovenian missing from the language switcher?
How can I ensure all languages appear in the footer switcher?

Hi there.

Can you please let me know if you have translated the content into those languages?

If the content has not already been translated into those languages, having them missing from the language switcher area is expected.

Please check if the page you are looking at has been translated and if the translation has been published and is not in "draft" mode or "under review" status.

When you are in the "Pages" WordPress main page in the backend, next to the default language pages, on the column from the right side that is dedicated to the existing translations for a page, you should see a "pencil" edit icon in case the translation has been published. If you see an eye icon, a gear icon, or a sync circled arrow icon, the translation has not yet been published.

The eye icon means you must review and accept the translation before it can be published.

Gear icon means that the translation is not saved yet, something is bugging out. You can try to click it, make sure that at the bottom it is mentioned that the translation is 100% complete and the ntry to resave.

If there is a circled arrow sync icon, there has been an update in the main language, and you need to click it and resave the translation.

Please let me know how that goes.

Kind regards,
Mihai Apetrei

It's actually the strings translations, the content is coming from the BuddyBoss plugin/theme.

Hi there. Thank you for the update.

From what I see there, we have strings that either have a + icon underneath specific languages (meaning there's no translation created yet for those) and on other ones, we have a "sandglass" icon, meaning that the translation is in process to be translated and not saved yet (it might be waiting for a translator to pick it up from WPML > Translations > or it might be in the automatic translation process, in case you sent it for automatic translation.

So that's probably why we don't see all the language flags.

My initial question was if the respective pages where you are seeing those missing flags were fully translated and the translation was published.

1. Can you please share an example link where I can see missing flags?

2. Can you please create a full website backup and then share site access with me in the private fields I enabled for your next reply so I can take a closer look?

Thank you.

Hi there, and thank you for the update.

From what I can see here (hidden link), there is no translation existing for those two languages; that's why the flags are not showing up for those two languages.

If we see a + icon, it means there is no translation for those pages.

There is an existing translation if we see a "pencil" edit icon.

I hope this clears up the confusion.
