As the issue is happening randomly, it's possible that the caching might be causing the problem. Please try the following and check if that helps to solve the issue:
- Please go to "WPML > Support > Troubleshooting"
- Under "Advance Settings", you'll find a button to disable caching for the language switcher. Click on the "Disable cache for language switcher templates" button.
- After that, click on the following buttons from the same page:
-- Clear the cache in WPML
-- Set language information
-- Fix post type assignment for translations
