This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
After updating WPML to the latest version, the client is unable to translate content and encounters a 500 error when attempting to use the string translation or open the WPML support tab. The issue began after URL slug manipulations were made, which might have caused disruptions in the translation engine.
Solution:
We recommend enabling the debug log to identify the specific cause of the 500 error. You can follow the instructions here: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/debugging-wpml/. After enabling the debug log, please share the log files with us for further analysis. If the problem persists, consider reverting to a previous stable version of WPML and its components, as this resolved the issue temporarily for the client.

Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue continues, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for personalized assistance.

Background of the issue:
After updating to the latest version I can not translate any content anymore. The site I need help with is hidden link.

Symptoms:
After updating, the string translation returns a 500 error. Additionally, I cannot open the support tab to clear caches or any stuck translations.

Could the issue be resolved from your end?

For now we have downgraded back to CMS version 4.8.1 and string translation 3.4.0 and everything works flawlessly. We will wait for any further update of the plugin, perhaps others with multisite installs encounter similar issues we have.

From what I could see at the , it seems there is something wrong with the registration of the plugin. When we install the newer. version it does not show as registered in our plugin page on the subsite where WPML is installed.

Perhaps this additional info helps the team in case others report similar issues.
