This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing an issue where their site warns that there are not enough credits for automatic translation, despite having a sufficient amount of credits assigned in their WPML account.
Solution:
If you're encountering a similar issue, it might be due to the automatic translation account ID being reset or changed, which can happen if WPML is uninstalled or WordPress is reinstalled. Here are the steps we recommend:
1. Visit your WPML account page at https://wpml.org/account and use the "add/remove credits" button to manage your credits.
2. If necessary, remove the existing site key and create a new one by following these steps:
- Go to https://wpml.org/account/sites/
- Remove the current site key and generate a new one.
- Navigate to your website's backend > Plugins > Add new > Commercial.
- UNregister WPML from the old key and REregister it with the new key.
3. Reassign the credits to your site by following the guide at https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/how-to-assign-automatic-translation-credits-to-your-sites/.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your specific case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If needed, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I find that our site hidden link all of a sudden warns me that we have not enough credits for automatic translation. When I check in my WPML-Account I see that there are 34240 credits assigned to it. I just have transferred another 5000 to it.

Symptoms:
In the backend, I get the same error: assign 144 credits before continuing. But I have already assigned 34240 credits.

Questions:
Why does this happen? How do I get WPML to work again?

Hi there.

Those credits probably got stuck.

So, please let me explain why I think this situation with the credits might be happening.

When you initially install and set up WPML, an automatic translation account ID is created.

If you uninstall/reset WPML or reinstall/set WordPress from scratch, a new automatic translation account ID will be generated, and the credits will remain in the old account.

On this page (https://wpml.org/account), can you click the "add/remove credits” button and move the credits back to your WPML.org account?

You can also have the credits returned if you remove the existing key from here (https://wpml.org/account/sites/) and then create a new one, then go to your site's backend > Plugins > Add new > Commercial > UNregister WPML from the old key > REregister WPML with the new key.

Then, please go here (https://wpml.org/account/sites/) > remove the current site key > generate a new one > then go to your website's backend > Plugins > Add new > Commercial > UNregister WPML from the old key > RE-register WPML with the new key.

Now, you can re-add the credits to your site by following the steps here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/how-to-assign-automatic-translation-credits-to-your-sites/

Please let us know if that works fine for you.
