Hi,

the past couple of weeks a lot of finetuning has been made to the translated content. Unfortunately, a couple hours or a day later, those changes have disappeared. Sick of all the misery and hours lost, we have decided it's best to deactivate the plugin WPML. My question is, what happens after deactivating the plugin. Do we still have access to the translated pages?

Another option would be to switch from the WPML Translation Editor to the WordPress Editor. This creates duplicates of the translated pages which can be altered manually with NO influence on the other pages, right? Like, absolutely NO influence? Translations made in the default (EN) language have no repercussions on the other languages?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting the support forum.
Before your ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues, please allow me to walk you through some initial debugging steps. This will help speed up the support process.

I am sorry for the inconvenience.
WPML never alters the content without the user's consent. It translates the content only when you have enabled the Automatic Translation. That is asked when you are setting up WPML. If you would like to provide us with more details we can investigate the issue.

To answer your question, when you deactivate WPML all the content that you translated will be listed in a single language. Unlike other plugin, WPML stores the translated content in WordPress database tables so no translated content is deleted (unless you delete it from WPML settings) it just get delinked.

If you use manual translation WPML will not alter any content it will just keep the link between the original and the translation. Every change you will make to the original and translation will be independent.

If I have missed anything, please feel free to ask.

Thanks
