I am trying to: Assign credits to my site to begin translating

Link to a page where the issue can be seen:hidden link

I expected to see:

I have been able to correctly license the WPML plugin, and assign credits to the site in my account. However the site shows it has no credits available. It also asks whether I have moved the site to the public IP address of the AWS lightsail server it is hosted on: hidden link

The bare IP is not in use and the site works normally aside from the credits assignment issue at the domain name.

I have tried opening the site to all inbound/outbound TCP traffic on port 443 without success.

I have also tried saying that the URL and the IP shod share credits, but the migration key crashes with "Error with sharing automatic translation credits"

The WPML plugin shows communication is working between the site and the WPML server

Instead, I got: unable to use credits in place or translate

As a follow-up I have confirmed that all outbound ports on the server are open, and tested temporarily removing all inbound and outbound traffic restrictions. The issue remains identical.

Hi there.

From what I can see, there have been multiple automatic translation accounts for this domain in the past.

1. Can you please send me a screenshot of WPML > Translation Management > Tools?

2. Also, can you please send me a screenshot of this page: https://wpml.org/account

3. Can you please let me know how many credits have you assigned to this domain and if you remember when you did that, on what date?

I will be waiting for your response.

Thank you!

Hi Mihae,

Attached please find a screenshot of the Tools window. Note that the tools window first asks if I want to switch the site location to the IP address rather than domain name. Regardless of whether I answer yes or no it directs back to the same page for a link, then times out.

I've attached screenshots of that error sequence as well.

This new site was a dev site in May 2023 and converted to a production site in June 2023 and had 24678 credits assigned to it.

Previously we had a temp site at the same URL that was used to test the WPML plugin and other resources.

I've tried registering and deregistering the site approximately 5 times as part of this process.

Most recently on advice of the plugin I also added in the bare IP address as a second location. I've tried registering and re-registering that address but it does not connect to the site nor is it desired to have it connect.

Hi there,

Regarding the error you see on the “Tools” page, please take a quick look at the existing tickets and see if one of the recommendations from my colleagues will help:

hidden link..69i57j69i58.4593j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

The correct option here, after you have created a full website backup, would be to select “NO” because the main site will remain on the domain you are already on.

Additionally, if you set your WP_HOME and WP_SITEURL dynamically in your wp-config.php, you will be reminded that the site was moved, even if it wasn’t actually moved. So that notice will continue to appear.

This is what I mean by dynamic:

define('WP_HOME','<em><u>hidden link</u></em>'.$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']);

define('WP_SITEURL','<em><u>hidden link</u></em>'.$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']);

Therefore, this code would need to be removed from that file if it is added there.

Please let me know how things go.

Mihai
